5 star ratingGreat LCD monitor for the money
by SteelCity1981 from FL on January 23, 2008
"This LCD This Dell LCD monitor is a great LCD monitor. The Best Buy salesmen told me that these LCD monitors were one of the fastest selling LCD monitors at the store. So I figured it must be good and bought one myself to replace my 2 year old 17 inch Gateway monitor. Lucky for me I was able to get the last one. I paid the same price for my Gateway 17 inch monitor 2 years ago as I paid for this monitor, so I'm sure there was a decent amount of difference due to the ongoing changes of technology since then, but I had no idea that it was going to be like a night and day difference. As soon as I got home I compared the differences between my 2 year old 17 inch Gateway monitor, it was indeed like comparing night and day. The contrast ratio and the response times are phenomenal for the price. Not to mention Dells throws in a DVI cable on top of the standard VGA and power cables and a 3 year warrantee for 200 bucks. I used to be a little cautious towards Dell LCD monitors due to the back lighting issues in previous generations, but I can see now that those issues are definitely a non issue now. This LCD monitor is by far and away the best LCD Monitor I ever owned, especially for $200.monitor is by far and away the best LCD Monitor I ever owned, especially for $20"

3 star ratingOkay, but you can do better for the money
by JonOfOhio , Somewhere, OH on December 24, 2008
I bought this monitor because the reviews were good. It had no dead pixels when I turned it on. I should have done my research though before plunking down the money on this. First off the resolution is OKAY. You will want a higher resolution, and you can get sub $200 lcd's with higher resolutions and more screen realestate if you shop around. Also, the refresh rate is not all that great. I prefer a higher refresh rate, as I get headaches from lower refresh rates, and this monitor is locked in at a lower refresh rate. The colors were good on this monitor and it looked nice, but after a few months of use it started to get a washed-out look. Then one of my kids hit it with a Nerf dart and it broke part of the panel. I feel this thing was cheaply made, though it does have a solid feel to it when you set it up. The base does not swivel, but I this didn't really bother me at all. Basically, I figured since this was a Dell brand I'd spend the extra money and get a well-built monitor. Instead I got a over-priced monitor, cheaply made monitor. If you are a person looking to buy this monitor, I recommend continuing your search. You can get off brand monitors at better prices that have more features that are built just the same. Just because it's Dell doesn't mean it's great. This is NOT that great of a deal.

5 star ratingVery Good Purchase !! Get'em before they run out !
by robersml from Hamilton, Ohio on March 26, 2008
"This monitor was an extremely good purchase for me because it's a 19" wide screen and a considerable upgrade for me, considering I used to own a 13" (Yea I know.. Ancient!). Anyways, I have had no pixels go out in this monitor and the controls for brightness and contrast are very easy to manipulate. Also, everything shows up super clear. And for the price, you can't beat it !!!! Also, you have to kind of look around on the product description for this but this monitor is HD ready !!!! It doesn't say it in big bold letters but it is, which is a monumental plus, considering the switch we are all making to HD. Now with this monitor, you can have it on your computer !!! Thanks Dell !"

4 star ratinggreat monitor and great price
by Anonymous Reviewer from Nampa,ID. on July 11, 2008
"I did a long research before buying this one.I looked at a lot of reviews and couldn't decide between a samsung or dell, but I noticed that a lot of people had problems with the high resolution and the text didn't look clear on many Samsung ,HP,and Dell models, plus many complained that they were too bright to the eyes and even if they adjusted them they would still hurt the eyes.Besides, the resolution of these monitors got to be supported by your computer otherwise you would have to update your graphic card.I have a HP Pavillion a1630n and it has an ENVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE so I didn't have to update the graphic card. After I assembled the monitor,I noticed the image was distorted, pictures looked wider, and text was blurry and since I did read a review from someone on Amazon that all you have to do is right click on your desktop and click properties and then settings and then drag the resolution to this monitor's resolution 1440X900 and problem solved.Color accuracy is very important for me since I'm a photographer and have to color correct pictures.I was worried if this monitor would not have the right adjustment on colors, but it does, peace of mind now.All I had to do is click on the front buttons on the monitor and mess with them.Something else that samsung and dell are doing now is giving a 3 year warranty because of past issues with the back light, which is great.I had a samsung monitor syncmaster 710 that died on me after 2 and 1/2 years of service.,and another piece of junk of Hp f1703 that didn't even last a year.Something else: I don't have a DVI conection on my computer and I don't think I need to upgrade to that yet, some people said made no difference having a DVI connection or a VGA (regular) connection. This monitor met my expectations."

"Just got this monitor two days ago to replace a 5 y.o. 17" standard HP LCD that quit. Big, clear, bright picture. Plug and play. Comes with both DVI and VGA cables which many do not. The design is cool and simple witha hole in the stand to keep cords neat. It has a narrow bezel and has a small footprint on the desk. Good quality and value for the price."

"What do you expect to get out of a monitor? You turn it on, the picture comes up, no issues. This monitor shows, clear, crisp text and photos. If you looking to find a needle in a haystack, buy a $1500 monitor. What's great about it is I turn it on and guess what, the picture is there."
