Description

Product DescriptionThe Kid Tough Walkie Talkies are the first preschool appropriate walkie talkies that are tough enough and easy enough to stand up to typcial, rough preschooler use. The set of two walkie talkies allows kids to communicate with each other from a distance of 200 feet. The Kid Tough Walkie Talkies features a Kid-Tough hand grip, push to talk/relase to listen detail, a volume dial, a flexible safety antenna and a power on/off switch.Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items.

My child recieved this as a gift and was very excited about it. To our dismay the walkie talkie immediately picked up a very frank conversation between two truck drivers. their voices were very clear and of course bad language was just about the first thing my child heard. I don't understand why fisher-price wouldn't include more than one channel on these walkie talkies. Everyone who owns a baby monitor knows this is essential. I will be returning this right away so that my child won't have to listen in on any more adult conversations!

  • DO NOT BUY....VERY DANGEROUS...1 star rating
by Denise very upset mom New York on August 18, 2009 at Toys"R"Us
The bottom line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I am furious with Fisher Price to let this item stay on the market without alerting paretns of the dangers. I caught my 6 and 4 year old daughters trying to talk to each other thru the walkie talkies and found that men were on the frequency talking perverted dirty things to my daughters.. I was outraged and called fisher price as well as local police department and fisher price knows that it can pick up any frequency...How can a company stand by and knowingly know that they are opening the door to allow strangers to interact with our children and not warm us about it...Please beware...
  • Great if you want to listen to the radio1 star rating

Bought product after daughter saw walkie talkies on TV. Put batteries in and heard out of state radio station and static. Needless to say, scared my daughter who expected to hear her mother's voice. No option to change channel to remove static for better reception. Heading back to store today to return.
  • Beware of Picking Up Other Frequencies1 star rating

My son loves phones, so my mother-in-law thought he'd love these walkie-talkies for his birthday. However, when I turned them on, at first we only received static (couldn't hear each other), [...] I immediately removed the batteries and returned the product to the store.

These are ok. Fisher Price's new mantra of Lower Quality at any cost is applied on this product as well. Simple to use, but gets a lot of interference. The static and noise is generates make is a better toy for outside. Not worth the retail cost, but for 9.99 or less they are ok.

My son was excited to get these walkie talkies. We opened them up and tried them out, only to find they didn\'t work unless you were sitting right next to eachother. Defeats the purpose. Now my son was nearly in tears after I told him we\'d be returning them. But he\'ll get something of better quality so he\'ll be fine.
  • Warning: Picks Up Other Frequencies/Conversations1 star rating
by Aidan's Mommy "Lisa S" (Tacoma, WA) on August 5, 2009 at Target
My son received this for his birthday & was really excited to open it right away. However, when I turned the walkie talkies on all I initially heard was static (not each other), but within seconds we heard an inappropriate ADULT conversation. I immediately turned the walkie talkies off, removed the batteries, and returned the product. I can't believe Fisher-Price didn't make this with more than one channel. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone - especially those with young children!

  • Fisher-Price should be ashamed1 star rating
by Angry Aunt Oberlin, Ohio on January 17, 2010 at Toys"R"Us

This was an awful purchase! Our nephew loves to play with our walkie talkies, so for his birthday we thought this would be a great gift. Upon inserting the batteries the item turned on, but we could hear nothing! The antennas had to practically be touching to get any sound to omit. Our nephew was incredibly disappointed. I feel that Fisher-Price should be embarrassed of the lack of quality in this product. I would be ashamed to have my brand name put on this. If you love the child you are shopping for, do not buy this item!
  • Poor quality, just as others said...1 star rating

Had I read these reviews last year I wouldn\'t have purchased them. They have a lot of static. If you turn the volume lower to decrease the static you can\'t hear each other! I was trying to see what we could do about it and low and behold I hear 2 trucker\'s conversations! Not great for kids. My husband and I turn them on every now and then for fun though. LOL!
