I had to replace my trash can that I got at Sam's Club for $35 which now sells in stores for $90 after getting the motor in the lid wet. I didn't want to spend that much on a trash can, so this was the best value I found. It is excellent on almost any level with one small complaint. The lid makes a noise when it closes, not too loud but noticable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a touchless model.

This garbage can is definitely a conversation piece - guests are always impressed! The batteries last a surprisingly long time. The downsides are that it frequently opens unintentionally (a joke around our house was, "Did you mean to throw something away" whenever someone walks by it). The biggest downside, however, is that it closes automatically, but small children and guests do not get this and therefore close the lid with their hand and cause the little plastic piece to break off. After super-gluing it several times, its officially busted... I think we'll go for a traditional step-on kind until our kids are older.

touchless trash canby nothappy10 on June 21, 2009The middle front of the trash can was bent and also the top opening was bent. The item was returned to the store for refund the next day. I was not happy about the damaged merchandise. I had to waste gas and my time to return the touchless trash can -
Horribleby emc22 on December 21, 2009Received completely damaged. The box was in perfect condition. The packaging was in tact - The can itself was completely smashed like someone had run over it with a car. The lid was split in two! Glad I opened it before giving as a gift. However completely ruined my experience with great inconvenience.

Works greatby SqueakySneaker on July 26, 2009This item looks good and works great in the kitchen area. It helps make the duty of messing with trash a much cleaner job. It's obviously not commercial grade equipment but if you're careful with it, it does it's job with ease.

It opens when your hand is about 6" in front and closes about 5 seconds later...unless your hand is still in front.It's a nice looking trash can that could fit into most kitchens.So far it's been super easy to change out bags. I'm not sure why some people have had problems.

I bought this after having to return another touchless trash can I purchased from costco because it broke after only 8 months.This one is so much better. The shape of it is more practical to use in the kitchen. It's a lot easier to remove the plastic trashbag when full, than the other trash can was. Also the top opens big enough to put large pieces of trash in the can. I am glad I purchased this product. I hope it lasts a long time.

Good product, great valueby wxaxmxaxrxtx on December 29, 2009This product was exactly what I hoped it would be. It was a great size and is great quality. My only hesitation is the touchless part. I thought the technology was lots of fun, but it really isn't necessary. It opens fast, but still you have to wait for it to detect your motion and open. I also worry that my dog will come and sniff it and accidently open it and be able to get at the garbage. Lastly, my main dislike of it is the size of the opening. Again, these are all things that I knew going into getting the product and I got exactly what I wanted. So I have some mixed feelings on the product. -
This is my third oneby an anonymous customer on December 26, 2009I bought two cans like this before, one for myself and one for my mother. They both worked for only a short period of time. Well, I really like the concept so I'm trying it again. This cost less than the others. Let's see how durable the open close mechanism is this time!

I think it's be much easier if it had a can inside and not a ring... But got over it quickly really like it...and love the fact that it opens by itself my toddler loves to take the trash to the can
