At the price and value the clubs are great, super stylish, and great playability. Except that I cannot stand the Callway reminder on the grip. They would have been better leaving a Golf Pride grip kit on the clubs.

Currently hitting the X-Tours3 star rating
by ChiGolfer on April 7, 2008 at Golfsmith
Bought x-Tour clubs/stiff shaft a year ago got fitted at Golfsmith. I am a 6 handicap, have been playing for over 15 years. Definitely not a great golfer, but regular league player, and get out on the weekends, with the occasional golf trip. OK clubs are definitely workable with zero in capabilities, but you sacrifice a lot of distance. I found I had to drop a club in order to project the ball to the proper distance. Muscling shots sacrifices accuracy, so you are not going to hit these clubs and get both accuracy and distance.

I am 17 years old and have a 3 handicap. Before i bought the X-20 Tours i had the Callaway Big Bertha X-12's. My golf coach told me it was time to get a more advanced set of irons. Soo I then went to golfsmith and tried every set of irons they had and decided on these because I was hitting them farther and more consistent than any other set they had. I ecommended them to everyone at my home course.
  • Solid Clubs for 10 - 18 Handicap5 star rating

I have always looked down on Callaway clubs as built for people who are trying to "but a game". But, last year my instructor told me that after a 10 year run it was time to get new irons. He recommended Callaway irons; so, I went through the fitting drill and tried them. The X-20 Tours are GREAT irons! I am getting about 10 more yards per club, a lower (proper) launch angle, and good forgiveness while still be able to work a ball--within reason. (They aren't blades.)Here are a few tips.1. This club is neither a low-handicap nor a high-handicap club. If you are single digit 8 or less or 20+ digit handicap player, this may not be the club for you.2. GET FIT! Everything I thought I needed in a club (more forgiveness, softer shaft since I am getting older) just didn't prove out during the fitting.3. Consider a custom order. I did not get a 4 iron, but instead got the Callaway 4 hybrid. This has worked out very well for me.4. If you tend to over-cook a draw (and I do), this club will help you--it has me. If you push or over fade the ball, consider the standard X-20.

To be honest i think most iron clubs that people pick are based on feel... These just didnt feel right to me..I have hit a lot of iron set and out of all of them these were in the top 3 so they are still a good set of clubs... yes you can hit the ball straight and accurate with them but i just did not get the distance i wanted from this set... I went with a set of TM instead...

  • X20 Tour Irons taking me to single digit!!5 star rating
by WW20 on November 17, 2007 at Golfsmith
I have recently switched irons from Callaway's excellent Fusion irons after a year and a half to the X20 Tours with 5.5 Project X Shafts. I am a stronger player and like a stiff, heavier shaft. Definately order your clubs after a proper fitting so that you get the right shaft, grip, length, lie angle, etc. The X20 Tours are fabulous and I could not be happier. I originally purchased the regular X20 irons three months ago in Dynamic Gold S300 shafts but after five or six rounds was not thrilled with the bigger, more off-set heads and muted, somewhat clunky feel. I believe the regular X20's are a very good club for someone who only plays once a week or with an index north of 15 or so. With the X20 tours I have excellent feel around the greens and a more precise and accurate weapon in my hands that I can work left, right, or straight with ease. They are also a half club longer than either my Fusions or the discarded X 20's--so I am definately a fan of the Project X shafts. These irons are also are very forgiving for a good player's club and I believe are more playable/forgiving than the "better-player" forged irons offered by Mizuno, Taylor Made, Titleist, and others. My index has truly dropped two strokes in the past thirty days to a 10 since I put these sticks in my bag and I am confident I will be single digit for the first time ever in the next sixty days or less. So, the X20 Tours are now my "A" set that I keep at my Country Club and the Fusion's are my garage set for in-frequent play at other courses. I can't imagine playing anything else for at least 3-4 years or more. Lastly, the X20 Tours are great looking and I have received a number of compliments on their look as well as my improved play. Try them, buy them, and get fit by a pro!!

After reading the reviews here, I decided to give these sticks a shot. I'm happy, happy, happy. Great distance, great feel, excellent trajectory...describes each club. I had been hitting the ball well this year and decided it was time to upgrade my clubs. I tried plenty. I decided on the Mizuno 67's, but after struggling to find the sweet spot consistently off the blade, I traded (90/90 playability) for these and HELLO! I was wary at first because of the difference in club head size. I have always liked clubs with a little thinner top line, but have found these easy to look at and even easier to hit. Knock down, let it fly, draw, fade...all can be accomplished with these sticks. I'd buy them all over again. I'm a 10 handicap and believe these clubs will help me get to my goal of 5! (I'm not greedy)
  • Forged Feel with Forgiveness5 star rating
by CTGolfer on July 14, 2007 at Golfsmith
They are not as forgiving as as the game improvement models, and are for a stronger player with good swing speed (16 h'cap or lower). The project X shafts are great, long and accurate, I picked up 5-10 yards a club from other clubs I've played.Lastly, Callaway customer service is great, I dented a shaft on a tree, they replaced it at no charge.

  • Best iron for intermediate to advanced players5 star rating
by golfguru13 on July 9, 2007 at Golfsmith
I recently bought these irons and they are very workable for the elite players but still easy to hit for the aspring golfer. Callaway golf's x series has been a reliable name for many years but the x 20's are the best by far. If you are stuck between the x 20's and the x 20 tours my advice is the tours they are forgiving enough for the 20 handicaper but are more workable than the regular x 20's for the single diget handicap. i have consistantly gotten good results with these irons, good distance and have been consistantly hitting fairways. I would buy these clubs 10 times over if i could the best deal for your money and your game!

I switched from X-16 irons with graphite to the X-20's with rifle project X. What a huge difference picked up 15 yds a club ie 6 iron went from about 180 to now about 195 sometimes rolling out passed 210, that's crazy. I haven't been able to find any other club with the combination of distance and control that the X-20 Tours have. I believe a huge part of the distance is the upgraded Project X shafts. They feel like graphite but have the control of steel!!!

Ive tried them all, finally someone got it right. great looks and forgiving, hit them high hit them low whatever you want. the project x shafts feel amazing they give you the accuracy everyones looking for and plenty of feedback, only thing i dident care for is the grip callaway uses on the irons mine seemed constantly "oily" feeling no matter what i did to clean them, but it was an easy fix golfpride decades,
