Synopsis

Step into any gym in America, mention the name Bill Phillips, and watch the faces light up with recognition and respect.

These include:

Hundreds of thousands of men and women who turn to Phillips's monthly magazine, Muscle Media, for guidance and straight-forward information about exercise, nutrition, and living with strength.

Professional and amateur athletes--among them John Elway, Karl Malone, and Mike Piazza--and celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, who have relied on Phillips' clear-cut information to enhance their energy and performance.

People once plagued by obesity, alcoholism, and even life-threatening ailments who accepted a personal challenge from Phillips and, with his help, turned their bodies and their lives around.

Body-for-LIFE is much more than a book on physical fitness, it's also an inspiring true story of one man's journey through life and the lives he's touched--a journey that began with a dream of helping one million people rebuild their bodies and has evolved into the challenge of a lifetime, a quest to help people from all walks of life search for, and discover, the hero inside each and every one of us.

Step-by-step, in language that is vivid and down-to-earth, Phillips maps out a guaranteed recipe for success.

This is not a vague, pie-in-the-sky "motivational" book. Neither is it a dense, technical manual about anatomy and physiology. In these pages, you will learn:

  • How to develop the mind-set to cross the abyss between knowledge and action
  • How to create not only more time but more energy in your day
  • How to lose fat and gain muscle by eating more, not less
  • How to trade hours of aerobics for minutes of weight training--with dramatic results
  • How thousands of ordinary people have become extraordinary role models and how you can too

The principles of the Body-for-LIFE program are profoundly simple, but remarkably powerful. So pull out your calendar, mark 12 weeks from today, and allow yourself to experience the power of the information in this book. Then get ready to take your body, and your life, to a higher point than you may have ever dreamed possible.

Change Your Mind--Change Your Body--Change Your Life

Imagine, just 12 weeks from now, having the lean healthy body you've always wanted and not having to turn your life upside-down to get it.

Imagine having the energy to be at your peak from dawn to dusk, having the confidence to do all the things you've been putting off, having the certainty to make the right decision at the right time, knowing that you really do have the power to change--not just your body but anything in this world you set your mind to.

If this sounds unlikely, or even impossible, it's time you were introduced to Bill Phillips and his Body-for-LIFE program--it's time you join the legions of people who have reaped the benefits of his expert advice.

Hard work & the Body for life Program pays off5 star rating

Easy to follow. Step by step book on how to lose weight. It includes what food to eat and when to eat. In addition, it shows what exercises to do for each body category (choose from a few), when to do it and how to do it (with how to videos on the website). In 3 months, I did not look like the guys in the picture but I did go from 22% body fat to 16% body fat. Lost 19 lbs, cholesterol went from 230 to 160. It works, not a bullcrap diet. Needless to say, I'm doing the 3 month program again. Joel

I followed the workout regimen for 12 weeks. I used BFL and Weight Watchers for my diet. After 12 weeks I had lost 58 pounds, from 302 to 244. Now at 5 months, I am down to 214. As you can see, I did not do just Body For Life, but it was a very good way to begin. Biggest lesson: always try to do a little bit better every time you work out. You will be surprised what you can accomplish.
  • You don't have to believe me but you should if you're struggling to get in shape!5 star rating

In 1999 I was barely squeezing into sizes 14/16. At the end of 2000 I was wearing a 6. It's 2008 and I wear a size 4. I did the Body for Life program and I don't have to diet today. I've taken the things I learned from Bill's book that as another reviewer said 'I should have known' but didn't and still apply it daily. No gimmicks, just old determination and the commitment to work hard. Thanks, Bill!!! It's worth your time and every penny you pay for the book if you've tried everything else because gimmicks don't work. This program does work but only if you work it.

This is not a diet book. This is a lifestyle change. I bought the book 6 months ago. I followed it to a T and after 3 months I went from 232lbs. to 195lbs. Now after the second 3 months I am down to 175 lbs. and 12 percent body fat~ Before this amazing book I had no energy and failed at every diet I tried. This book changed my life and is awesome!

No need for a long review here. The book is designed to help you improve your health and body by offering a weight lifting program, a cardio program, and a diet plan. Everything is clearly laid out and lots of great pictures do a good job of illustrating the exercises. But perhaps the best thing this book has going for it is its motivational tone that runs throughout the book.
  • Very Inspirational and changed my way of life!5 star rating

Bought and read the book over the 4th of July weekend. It inspired me to follow the program and my end result after 12 weeks was a 22lb weight loss and much more muscle tone. If your not inspired by the book and ready to make a change in your life style, you probably won't follow the program.
  • The good, the bad, and the ugly.5 star rating

Despite the cheesy picture of the author on its cover, 'Body for Life' is a pretty good book- although I wouldn't count on looking like the people in the book in just 12 weeks- they no doubt were trying to win the contest that the author puts on and spent a little more than 12 weeks getting into shape. Having said that, I found the book somewhat valuable. Why? Well, the best thing the book has going for it is its motivational writing style- which sets the book apart. The book motivates you to eat better (the diet plan is as straightforward as it gets) as well as setting you up on a pretty reasonable exercise program. All in all, its well laid out and downright inspirational, so, I give it 5 stars.

Body For Life lays out a step by step program for beginers who need to drop weight and do not know where to start. While the exercises are basic, they are good for beginers. The meals are given in a systematic fashion that is easy to follow and the author recommends his protien shakes as meal replacement or as a snack depending on the results that you want-weigt loss or gain muscle. Overall good for beginers.

This book is the secret to a long and healthy life, in 12 weeks you can transform your body, your mind, and your life. Bill Phillips is a GURU who had idea that were way ahead of their time, going on it's 12yrs the Body for Life plan is STILL one of the best ways to get yourself in perfect mental and physical health. It has helped change my life and if you read this book it could change yours. Most importantly, it is a fairly easy read, I read it my first time in 1 night.

This plan may not be for you, but it's just what I needed. I'm 47 years old, I was 20+ lbs over weight, tired all the time. The book lays out a plan that if followed works. Plain and simple. This plan is just the beginning of a lifelong healthy lifestyle that already has me feeling so good I'm always looking forward to tomorrow!

This book can and will provide you with lot of motivation. Only problem with this book is that it's full with author's supplement company marketing plugs. It's not needed to eat meal replacement shakes, and it's better if you can eat a real self cooked meal. Plus sides are motivation, no calorie counting (easier for beginner), and simple to construct programs. If youre looking to lose a few pounds, and get in better shape this is a good book to start with, just cut the marketing fluff out.
