Who Am I Without Him? : Short Stories about Girls and the Boys in Their Lives by Disney Press Staff and Sharon G. Flake (2007, Paperback, Revised)

Product Details
A collection of short stories about teenage girls and the issues they must deal with in their relationships with boys. These 10 affecting--comical, distressing, often painfully authentic--short stories thoughtfully careen around the universe of young black women and the boys that both fascinate and infuriate them. While offering insights into the enormous range of emotions and experiences teenaged girls have, stories such as "So I Ain't No Good Girl," "The Ugly One," and "Wanted: A Thug" also create a context for girls to consider their own feelings of self-worth. A 2005 Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book.

This book gives a look at how life really is for some people. If you are going through a relationship where your significant other (male in this case) tells you what to do, but you follow because you are simply in love with them or so you think, you could end up doing something you'll regret. This book has short stories told by girls and boys, so you get a point of view from both sides. Sometimes it can be a little confusing, but it always ends up being clearer in the end. Some of these stories would be good actually books, because the plot is so interesting. Overall, I think this book may be one of the best short story filled books I've ever read, and I suggest this to anyone who is interested in relationship stories, (not all romantic) or who just wants a clue of what the other side is thinking. These stories tell it like it is,and that's what makes it a good book.EG

Young men and young women who are in a game of love. Who to keep, who to let go. For someone who treats you wrong and you are confusedWhat should you do? Let them go or keep them and endure pain. Raheem is a young man who is somewhat cute, and attracted and he has a girlfriend but he does not look at her the way he use to, does not really spend time with her. Does he get what he wants, and live, or fell out of love, and rejoined back in love. Me in this novel wow!! There are somethings I can relate with. Like thinking someone likes me and really dont, but they want one thing and thats sex, and rejected the thought of a young man and he leaves. If you are struggling in a relationship this is a source to fulfill and get some ideas even though its fiction. Reading Level: 6 grade and upPages: 220Young women this is a book for you Ranking: five stars

This book is really entertaining. The things that happen in the book seem to happen in our every day lives. The book talks about many things dealing with the guys in a girl's life. I believe this book is a really good book for teenage girls to read. It made me look at life a little different only because it shows you a different point of view.

This book is a great book for young women to read. I am using this book with a group of 8th grade girls to show them the importance of loving themselves before their 'boyfriends.' This book also teaches lessons on respect and relationships.

I'm 19 so I really didn't enjoy this book. Its targeted for younger adults 12-16. There are some really great lessons in this book for that age group. I only decided to purchase it because after reading the reviews I seen that older individuals were recommending it to everybody. But I don't think very many people over the age of 16 will find this book interesting. Don't get me wrong its a really great book but just for younger adults.

Boys, boys, boys! This book is telling many stories about girls, and a few boys, on how the love game is. Some of the stories involve girls having crushes on a certain boy or even their own friend, unattractive girls who get teased, girls who like someone of a different culture. Also, there is a certain story about a young girl who is mixed, becomes pregnant, and wants to give her child up for adoption. Her boyfriend is in jail. While this is happening, her father kicks her out and she must live in a shelter for girls who are like her. She meets a boy who is speacial ed. And she begins to use him. This situation does not end well. This book is geared towards teenagers. You will enjoy this book!
