The reasons why I am saying that this game is the worst Real Time Strategy game is this; this game focuses lesson actual strategy and more on "is my unit under the cover of nearby rocks"? The original DOW is FAR better. Whereas this game is slow paced and very painful. What I mean by that is, once you lose an engagement, it is nearly impossible to recover. And losing is what you will do. If you don't have the proper counter unit to the enemies forces he is going to wipe you out. More rolling of the dice then actual strategy. The online interface is also poorly designed. In order to play ranked matches you must sit watching a screen for roughly 10 minutes waiting for a server to locate 5 other players. Another draback is that when you play ranked matches you are forced to play something called point control. Where you attempt to grab specific nodes to hod on to and win. Many times when you have thrown the dice in this slow paced game and lose a single engagement it is now to late to recover on any term. Your other option is to go into non ranked matches that are somewhat better off, you have the chance to play annihilate. Where you simply play to beat the enemy into submission. On the plus side, the game graphics are pretty good...And the game sound is decent. If you like Dawn of War, stick to the first one, they have butchered this game.

I'm new to DoW, but my friend has played table top for years and played DoW1 and all the expansions. This game supposedly plays much more like the table top. There isn't any unit massing, you're given squads, each with distinct abilities. You have to utilize and combine them to succeeded. Unlike most RTS which focus on building up a base and an army of guys and spamming waves at your enemy. this actually requires thought. Its challenging, and the interface is a little clunky at first until you get the hang of it, but the swat style game play really does grow on you. If you were a fan of the first game, this might take it in a totally different direction, but give it time, its a very well put together game. Only two issues ive had with it are that for some reason it wont let me choose Ultra textures and shadows, and i have a gtx 260 c216 SCC, which I dont understand. And there seems to be a memory leak, I get a memory dump error after playing for a little while, usually right as i click to deploy for a campaign mission.

This is definitely gonna get RTS of the year, it's just that good. Its a huge step from the first one, i love only having one base to deal with. Micro Management of your units is now the focus, and all unit upgrades are actually in the units the only upgrades not in your units are the upgrades for power nodes, and base upgrades, and power nodes and requisition points are absent from the campaign giving it a more rpg/mmo experience without the stupid grind or the commitment. If you like Warhammer/Warhammer 40k buy this game, if you like RTS's buy this game. If you have a brain buy this game. If your not one of the above buy it anyway; its just that good. There are also a huge increase in the amount of customization or at least the amount of paint schemes for your army, for example in Dawn Of war 1 i believe there were only about 8 paint schemes premade, but now there are at least 14 per race. Not only that but you have a huge plethora of items you can upgrade to your commander, and there's more. There's only 1 commander! If you played Dawn Of War 1 i'm sure you remember having like 5 commanders and a bazillion units with about 6 different special abilities per unit that you never used. Thanks to the cut back on your unit sizes and only have 1 commander special abilities are actually useful now. Another great thing for multiplayer is the in game voice chat thanks to windows live and the easy set up of message sending/private chat, its basicly xbox live for your pc, so making and keeping track of new friends is easy especially since you can know who's playing when your on your xbox.
