Schools should be ashamed of themselves pushing the 20 yr old TI-84s. This is far superior and only a few dollars more. Much better screen. Much better organized.

The calculator is awesome! But the instructions on how to use it and do basic math functions is somewhat confusing! But, highly reccomended!

It can be tough to learn the more complex functions (the reason there's a book "N-Spire for Dummies?") and online support is spotty, at best. All that aside, the reason I'll return this is that this model will not display radicals. It will calculate square roots, but only provide a decimal approx., not a radical response (ex: sq. rt of 8 is returned as a decimal, not as 2 radical 2) and will not rationalize denominators. You'll need a separate calculator for that, or the CAS model. According to TI, no software upgrade is available for the CX.

This calculator has some outstanding features. Note: If you want to do indefinite integrals and derivatives get the CAS model. The graphics are great and the built-in tutorial will get you up and going quickly. The battery lasts about a week with heavy use. It also has software that allows you to use the calculator functions on your computer.

I recently purchase the TI-Nspire CX graphing calculator to upgrade my really old HP 38G. I am currently taking a pre-calculus course and have been using the HP 38G & the TI 84plus. The display is far more attractive than other calculators I have used because of the color screen. I am still figuring out how to use it but ease of selecting log bases has definitely been a plus for me. I actually dropped it about 2 days after purchase and now there is a rattle but it still works great, battery life is good, and the attractive display encourages me to learn more about the features on this calculator. The fact that this calculator is rechargeable was also one of the perks compared to other TI versions. I haven't even used the included disk yet but a complete book of instructions would have made this perfect. I intend to use this calculator in future math & math related courses.

Graphing and other math functions are so easy. It is intuitive so easy to use. If you have used the other TI graphing calculators...This is so easy. Just type in the formula and its done. No mode this f1 that type it as you see it and the graph is done. It will also give you the plot points. Easy Easy Easy. Spend the extra money and you will get what you pay for.

Upon recommendation of teacher this is the best graphing calculator available.

I love that it can do some really complex equations. However on the other hand it is horrendous when it comes to basic calculations
Ex
2+ negative 2
You have to type the negative and exactly where it goes you can have the negative after the number. And it doesn't assume anything! -

This is the best graphing calculator I've ever owned. It is powerful and very easy to use. If you are a student who currently uses a TI-84 (or something similar), you should be able to use this one in class, even if your teacher doesn't know how to use it.

The colored screen is wonderful. You can do a variety of things between the calculator and computer that will allow this calculator to be one of the best for advanced math. The website is very helpful if you have any issues with learning how to use it. There is a big difference between the TI-84 and this calculator.
I love that you can just plug your calculator in to charge it.
