I use it for mailing missionary work out, so it comes in very handy. I like it because the size is not bulky and hard to handle. I don't have a lot of space to work in, so that is a plus. I would definitively recommend this product to anyone who does any large amount of mailing.

This product is a good value. Using water or a sealer works great in this. As I said above, the yellow top shreds after a while so we have to throw out the whole bottle (which I feel is a waste). I wish we could replace the yellow top. That would make it an even better product & I would give it 5 stars.

I have a dozen bottles lying around -- too bad you're unwilling to sell the sponge caps; they wear out too quickly.

Purchased this for our small office as I was getting tired of licking the bad tasting Staples envelopes. Came across this moistener on the Staples site and figured for the price I couldn't go wrong. The moistener is easy to fill but impossible to regulate. You either get no water or way too much. The envelopes end up wrinkling from too much water and have to be taped shut.
I am back to licking envelopes and this moistener just sits on my desk as a reminder that you get what you paid for.

You have to press fairly hard for the water to come out. When it does, it is too wide of a strip and it results in overly moistened glue, a wet surface underneath, and a crinkled envelope from too much water. This product was inexpensive, but like they say, you get what you pay for. I should have bought the roller with the glue already in it. This one fails to seal the envelope because the glue is too wet. I ended up taping the envelopes closed anyway. I would not buy another one, and I will probably be back at Staples buying the one with the glue in it.

I am allergic to latex. Some adhesives, such as those on envelope flaps, contain latex. Since I cannot determine which do and which do not contain latex, I have to avoid contact with all adhesives. Staples Envelope Moistener allows me to moisten and seal the flaps without actually touching them.

Inexpensive & handy, this little sponge bottle makes sealing quantities of envelopes relatively quick and easy. Tip 1: Don't squeeze the bottle or you'll get too much water. Tip 2: Touch lightly with the sponge or you'll tear it up quickly.

You have to keep dabbing the sponge onto what your trying to moisten so that the water eventually comes out. If you squeeze it slightly the water just comes out on the sides and makes a mess. The sponge is too large of a circumference to use to wet a small tacky strip on a regular sized envelope. I tilt the bottle to use just a portion of the sponge, and sometimes it isn't the part that's actually wet.

Nothing beats the Staples Envelope Moistener. When it comes to sealing envelopes and especially for a large project. I have used an envelope moistener for more years than I can remember. The moistener is so convenient, efficent, and clean. I keep a supply of two on hand at all times. I am a volunteer for some organizations and always take them with me to work on projects. If there are several people working on a project we just organize an assembly line so two people are glueing at all times until the project is completed.

I love using this product, but the sponge wears out and you have to buy a whole new one, wish they sold the tops so you can keep using the one you bought.

Once upon a time, a company called Sterling used to make these, and they pretty much did what you expected: allowed you to sponge on a small amount of water to the adhesive flap on an envelope so you didn't have to use your tongue. Well, this product looks the same, but it does not work or last the same. It holds water all right, but the "sponge" (yellow thing on top) is made from a foamed plastic material that doesn't work right. It leaks water when turned upside-down to use it, and cannot control the amount of moisture for the envelope flap, constantly over-wetting it. It doesn't last; the sponge deteriorates too quickly.
It is cheap. though, but I'd happliy pay more for something better.

I seal a couple dozen envelopes a day at my job, and the new envelopes I got taste terrible! Went to Staples, the options for envelope moisteners were limited to two kinds: this one, which I bought, or a 4 pack of prefilled tubes that look a lot like bingo stampers. I didn't really want 4, so i bought the cheap one. dispensed way too much water, and after about the 4th envelope the sponge came off and was no longer usable. total waste of money and time.

the only bad thing I would say about this product is it can leak to much water, but I wipe off the excess and problem solved.

We have never had an issue with these in the past but this batch was horrible. The sponges fell off after hardly any use and the entire case we received was no good.

I wanted to purchase pre-filled envelope moisteners for use at work. I have used products in the past that even have a bit of adhesive in the fluid, which really helps secure envelope flaps. Unfortunately, I could not find such a product at Staples. All I could find was this 2 ounce, refillable bottle with a sponge applicator on top. I figured, why not? It must serve the same purpose...I was a bit mistaken. While this product was inexpensive and is convenient to use, it dispenses far too much water. I often wind up with puddles on the envelope I want to seal, rendering it almost useless. This product works in a pinch, but if you have other options, use them!
