I wanted to purchase pre-filled envelope moisteners for use at work. I have used products in the past that even have a bit of adhesive in the fluid, which really helps secure envelope flaps. Unfortunately, I could not find such a product at Staples. All I could find was this 2 ounce, refillable bottle with a sponge applicator on top. I figured, why not? It must serve the same purpose...I was a bit mistaken. While this product was inexpensive and is convenient to use, it dispenses far too much water. I often wind up with puddles on the envelope I want to seal, rendering it almost useless. This product works in a pinch, but if you have other options, use them!

I'm not sure that you can use up 400 characters commenting on a small teal blue , plastic bottle that you only put about two (2) ounces of water into before you put on the small yellow twist top with the yellow sponge attached to it. However, I have decided to give it the "old-college-effort" (so-to-speak) and figure out whether or not it can be done without being repetitive, and it looks like I'm getting pretty close to that number, so in closing, I will just add that it would be best if you did not stick a pin in the side of the bottle, unless you want it to leak all over your desk and make a mess. How did I do?

Makes moistening lots of envelopes a snap. Though be careful as the water comes out a wee bit fast (even when not squeezing). Well worth the couple bucks though!

Bad quality, bottle leaked constantly and would get liquid all over envelope. Sponge tip wore out quickly and would leave pieces on envelope. Had to buy another brand. Wouldn't recommend.

Use to wet envelopes. Better than licking. Handy. This last one I had the sponge did not last as long as the others that I had.

You get what you pay for. The foam pad was pretty torn up by the time we had used it on 300+ envelopes. Almost a one-time use product!!

The cheap, two-piece snap together cap design causes the water to exit out the side, i.e. not through the sponge, over 99% of the time. Don't even consider it.

Redesign this from the bottom up. It needs to have a small enough pad (measure against the common # 10 envelopes sold by Staples) and be marked with that as a feature.

These moisteners were very useful to apply temporary tattoos at a recent Back-to-School Fair. Several parents thought they were cool and wanted to know where I bought them.

applicator is too wide for standard envelopes... invest in a glue stick instead

An inexpensive solution to licking envelopes--especially when sending many out at one time.

I only purchased this because of the poor selection at Staples. There remain pencil type moisteners, but Staples doesn't stock them. I bought this in a pinch, not because I thought it might be good for the job.

Bought 2. Both sponges ripped almost right away. These put way too much water on the envelopes.

I use this product at home maybe twice a week.
Top of moistener drys up and keeps the moisture from getting through to the envelope easily.

Unable to control output of water. Tends to over moisten delicate envelopes. Ended up removing sponge and using its edge to moisten envelopes. Sponge is too course for delicate work.

This envelope moistener works just alright. Nothing special. It does the job, but they never last long. I guess that's why they are so inexpensive. I go through one about every 2 billing cycles (about 500 envelopes).

Product serves its purpose very well for a time. The sponge doesn't last and starts to come apart.
A felt top would last longer.

This product doesn't let the water get to the pad. If or when it get there, it is too much at one time. I would not recommend it as a purchase.

It was great using for wedding invitations but the head of the sponge is a bit too large for a regular size envelope so the table did get wet sometimes because of this. Otherwise, it was exactly what I was looking for and made my invitations go out quickly with this tool.

This little guy is perfect for sealing envelopes at home or at work. After reading an online article about how massive amounts of cockroaches lie eggs in manufacturer warehouses and feed off the envelope's adhesive glue strip, it turned my stomach to think about licking an envelope behind that. One lady licked an envelope that apparently had eggs on the strip and it buried themselves inside her tongue and the baby cockroaches hatched there and caused her excrutiating pain until she had surgery to remove them. The price of this envelope moistener beats the price of going through this situation any day!

It's this really cool plastic bottle with a sponge on the top and you put water in it and smear it on envelopes so you don't have to lick them. It's Awesome with a capital "A"
