Started construction over 15 years ago and ive seen alotta tools come and go. This is a must have for the weekend warriors and the people running em every day!Solid design, independant light switch, belt clip, hex grip which makes for a very comfy handle. *the hex grip does wear down after alotta use BUT the impact keeps laughing at what ever comes it way. If this impact driver could make cuts id have way more room in the tool box!For anyone that hasnt used an impact i suggest you take a trip to your local home depot and try one of the displays they have, most have a wood bench you can drive some screws into. while your testing this product dont use any force just let the impact do the work it is honestly effortless compaired to your traditional drill.

Just got this in a Hammer Drill & Impact combo deal with 3.0 amp hour batteries (high capacity 18v). Used this to build a barn - every day for 7 days. Short version of the review is - awesome.Pros: Battery reached half charge after a day of use (if I had more daylight I could have gotten twice as much done), drives screws like nothing I have previously used, good balance to it, belt clip is handier than I had thought (used it all the time), rubberized battery was great for non-slip/slide on surfaces, light was awesome toward evening, controls are placed very ergonomically but protected from impact if you drop it, had great torque for driving 3/8" nuts on bolts (didn't use on anything larger and remember this is not an air operated impact)Con: Concerned about dropping over hard surface - additional rubberized areas to reduce the risk of plastic would have been better (this is issue with all brands), would have liked to see a larger forward reverse switch made of metal since it was difficult to operate smoothly with leather gloves and I worry about breaking it off.Over all the impact impressed me - I went to buy the Hammer Drill and this was free as part of a kit. I ended up using this more than the drill. I love it.

I bought this driver to work on some rentals and remodels medium/heavy use. Its a good impact driver when it has a strong charge. The place where Ridgid put the light trigger (on the bottem of the grip handle where your pinky is at) seems like the light is always ON because your always hitting it ON or when its in the holster. AFTER owning it for a couple of months, I just recently had the LED light Flashing ON and OFF and it wont turn off until I remove the battery. I was reading some Ridgid Forms and a lot of other people had the same issue. They either had to return it or send it to get serviced. Its also got some weight to it. Hope this helps!

I regret not purchasing an impact driver sooner. This tool makes a huge difference in productivity. My only con is what I see as a battery life that is less than ideal. I have been screwing down a 2x6 treated deck, and the unit needs recharging more often than I want. But the recharge time is fast and I have learned to work around the recharge times.

I purchased this in a kit with drill/driver together back in November 2012. Framing on a couple days a month basis, I now drive ten to twelve 2-1/2" screws before the battery is shot and due for charge. I used my partners 20amp Dewalt, it's faster and hits harder with less bounce and tip breakage and I can drive up to 35-45 screws, depending on wood type on a charge.I'm sold on the Dewalt and will make the switch from Ridgid

I loved the tool for the first 4 month of intermittent use until both batteries failed to take a charge. I am pretty put out about the headache of finding a service center. Seems to me that HD should deal with it.

Supposedly this impact can produce 145 ft lbs or by box label 1750 in lbs. There is no way this gun provides that much power, I have to go back through and retighten all of the bolts this thing tightens or the equipment im working on will fall apart. Lucky to produce 50 ft lbs, better off saving money and getting something better.

everything about it is great, EXCEPT you cant leave the battery in it during storage. the squeeze trigger light runs the battery down and even when we're using it, the holster keeps the light on. I first bought it because of the battery warranty.

Impact driver has amazing power for its size and can be used for hours without fatigue because of the light weight. Quick loading for bits with the spring loaded "chuck". The impact is automatic and it takes some pratice to avoid stripping screw heads with the impact feature. Once learned, it is very controllable.

I do construction work for a living, building everything from small renovation jobs to full room additions. I bought this impact driver six months ago and have never had a problem with it. I have driven every type of screw you can imagine into all kinds of different wood and sank every one of them. I have used different kinds of impacts and the ridgid has out preformed them all. Great tool, great price, great service agreement, what else do you need.

This is an excellent tool with a nice feature of a light with a switch in the handle. It also performs very well.as an impact driver. Haven't yet found a screw it could not drive home.

I got this tool to build a large building. I use it mostly to drive 3 inch screws into 2x4s. It worked well for about 50 screws, then started to go bad. It would drive 3 screws well when fully charged, then it would lose power and fail to hammer. It would also get much hotter than it did at first. The battery would be partly depleted if I used it for only 3 or 4 screws. I thought it was a battery problem, but just now it started hammering weakly and gave out. It still works without any load. I got this mainly because of the unconditional warranty, but I live so far out I need a tool that just won't fail. I don't think it is a lemon, I think it is just a light duty tool.

I am a contractor. I bought some rigid 18v tools because they didn't have the brand i wanted. I cant even get one of my employees to use them. they are awful compared to my makita tools. I would even prefer my ryobi tools over these ones.

If it wasn't for asking the salesman which impact gun was the best for the money, I would have NEVER known, Plus comes with a limited Lifetime Warranty was a No Brainer!Since I'm a professional ASE master Tech & Automotive Equipment Repair Tech that repairs Tire Changers, Wheel Balancers, Brake Lathes & many others types of machines,I wanted to purchase my son a good gun for him since he started Wking with me, ( it is now our Favorite Gun with Plenty of Power ) I've had Makita most my life & have had Milwalkie

My issue is not with Home Depot, but with One World Technologies, the parent corporation of Ridgid and Ryobi...here's why. I bought the previous generation of this driver in December, 2011 and have been very happy with it. Recently my batteries are not holding a charge so I decided to try out the LSA only to find out I have to send back the entire kit in order to take advantage of the warranty. I work for a mechanical contractor and need my tools. Guess I was supposed to buy two of these and keep one on the shelf in case the other went down. Great warranty but they make you go thru heck to take advantage of it.

This impact driver is lightweight and durable. Its bright LED light is a great plus. It charges fast and the battery monitor provides a nice piece of mind. It has handled all my projects so far. A must have upgrade for anyone that uses a drill/driver combo.

I researched impact drivers and liked what I read on this one. Bought it less than a year ago. This week after charging it for a half a day I was using it and it just started stopping on me, over and over again. I put the battery back into the charger and it would not charge. The battery is not even 10 months old. Took it back for a Black & Yellow one 20 Volt.

all of you peolple that have but good reviews on this product must let it sit on the shelf and collect dust. This tool was bought for me from my employer. I use this tool 8 hrs a day 5 days a week. battery Charges quickly but this tool has no nut. I am a commercial framer and I rely on a good impact gun. I would take a ryobi over this pile any day.....

I finally purchased this impact driver. I had researched over a dozen, and this looked like the best deal for the money. Most of the others will offer up to a 3 yr. warranty, but Ridgid goes beyond that. Theirs is a Lifetime Service Agreement, and it even covers the battery. When I took it out of the box, it looked solid. I charged the battery for an hour, then put it to work. My daughter was adding a room in her basement. I drove over 100, 3" screws and 25 Tap-con concrete anchors. The battery didn't even show any discharge. In the past when I built walls, I always seemed to strip out a screw here and there, but not a one was stripped on this project. One of these reviews stated that there was no variable speed, and I was worried that I'd snap off screws with that much torque and just on / off. This one does have variable speed. The advertised torque is 1400 inch lbs. That's over 115 foot lbs. A car tire is only torqued to 100 ft lbs normally. All I can say is how come I waited so long to buy one. All the home improvement shows rave about these, and I know I'll never drive a screw with a regular screwgun again. Definitely a "must-have" tool.

I have been a believer in your products for a while now, but this tool ends that. I bought this tool on line as a gift, I shopped the info hard. This tool is listed as having over1700 lbs. of power, but in reality the tool and box say 1400 lbs.

I use this impact driver all of the the time. It's a little noisey in tight spaces, but hey it's an impact driver. This is a solid tool and the noise just means its working. I have driven in some screws in cramped places I may have otherwise not be able to with a standard drill driver. The new "tap on" light feature is great too. You need one of these!
