Who hasn't heard the expression "two heads are better than one?" As a child, did you envision a single body with two heads? Did you wonder exactly what that statement meant? This book is a delightful compilation of some common maxims, idioms, proverbs and clichés. The author asked school aged children what statements their teachers liked to repeat and this book is only a small sample of the results. Each figure of speech is repeated in an amusing verse and the wonderful illustrations provide a creative and literal interpretation. For example, "these walls have ears" portrays a wall with three large ears and a young girl with a giant Q-tip. Every page contains a brief explanation of the origin of each saying making this book educational as well as entertaining.
