Minority Report

Product Details
Overview Based on a short story by the late Philip K. Dick, this science fiction-thriller reflects the writer's familiar preoccupation with themes of concealed identity and mind control. Tom Cruise stars as John Anderton, a Washington, D.C. detective in the year 2054. Anderton works for "Precrime," a special unit of the police department that arrests murderers before they have committed the actual crime. Precrime bases its work on the visions of three psychics or "precogs" whose prophecies of future events are never in ...

What's there to say about Minority report besides the fact that it's one of the best films ever made? Brilliant... just brilliant.

How could critics call this movie a ''mild disapointment''?. As of right now (before Lord of the Rings comes out) this is the best movie of the year. Great visual effects, top- notch acting, and a suspenseful murder mystery will easily entertain you over and over again. If this movie proves one thing, it's that Speilberg is the master of directors. He's proved it before, but this movie drives his greatness home. An awesome movie that can't be missed.

From the high-tech weapons, stunning visual effects, and intriguing story line, this is a great film. The future of murder can be predicted, and cop John Anderton played by Tom Cruise, helps stop murders from happening. But when he gets predicted to commit a murder, he must run from his own department and discover the truth about his murder. It has awesome action sequences, especially one where jet-pack wearing cops chase Cruise all around a deserted alley. It's awesome! Spielberg does a great job creating a thoroughly believable world and Tom Cruise gives a great performance. This is one movie you can't afford to miss! One of the best films of the year!

Wow. That is really all this movie needs. It's original, it's got a (gasp) plot (which isn't always seen these days), it's got good directing and good acting (also not seen much these days), and it's got twists. A huge twist, right at the end. Just becasue you're not a science-fiction nerd, doesn't mean you can't see it. People everywhere will appreciate it.

The first time I saw this movie I didn't quite get it. I decided to go back and see it again and enjoyed it more. The movie is dark and the direction heavy handed but it works. Great twists and plenty of action will keep you hooked.

2.0 / 5.0
Based on a Philip K. Dick story, this movie is meant, built, written, created, to be a gloomy and rough tale of a hunter cop turned hunted. Instead of being true to the source, Spielberg, heavy handed as ever, turned this into a story like every other in his movies - love, family, warmth - and it is a shame. The result is a great visual effects movie with a mediocre leading man and a transplanted soul. For references on how it should have been done, please check out 'Total Recall'. In the meantime, feel free to skip this lame rendition that could have been great in the hands of some other, less warm-fuzzies director.

Ignore what the other reviewer said. MINORITY REPORT is an all-out action thrill ride. The action scenes are extremely well-done and the special effects are so believable that you feel engulfed within the story. I loved this movie. It has some of the best of Spielberg and the best of Cruise. He also was able to create some of the most thrilling action sequences since SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK! You would have to be a fool to miss this film.

This movie kept up a great sense of suspense and action throughout. There was never a scene where you absolutly knew what was going to happen until it did.

Once again, Spielburg has given us another excellent film to treasure. What a great nailbiting thriller this is! Even if you don't like sci-fi movies you will probably love this.

1.0 / 5.0
A movie that begins well enough as a lean mean tech noir machine, but then gets bogged down in an all-too predictable conspiracy plot and mushy family friendly happy ending. At least one plot hole that you could drive a planet through, and some really juvenile attempts at gross-out humor don't help matters much. It has delusions of relevance, of having a SERIOUS MESSAGE, but whatever that message is has been buried under enough high tech art-direction and CGI to effectively obscure it. A bore.

The title says it all...Yet you have to see it to 'get it'...I was amazed to find an action flic that both my action-fan husband and I could enjoy together. This was truely a thriller, with a thick plot, chemistry between characters and Tom Cruise! What more could a girl ask for?

3.0 / 5.0
This could have been a great film. The movie gives a twist to thoughtcrime and constant electronic surveillance by adding a foundation of commercialism (and you thought pop-ups were annoying). But unfortunately, no one seemed to tell Spielberg that the society was supposed to be a dystopia. Instead, this film becomes yet another shallow and sentimental cop-out. If you like Blade Runner, watch this one without the final fifteen minutes.

Spielberg cooks up some pap for us with a nicely tinited sci-fi film about the dangers of a world where John Ashcroft is allowed to run amok. Naturally there is the usual daddy-child junk going on which is de riguer in the ''valuable lesson'' department of his entire oeuvre. But this one has no meat on the bones. Nice people, pretty pictures. There is one beautiful thing about this film: Max von Sydow showing every gentleman amateur and Mr. Twenty-Million Dollar Cruise how a real pro takes fecal dialogue and makes something out of it. Every scene should be required viewing for students of James Lipton. The seven minutes he is on screen is a tribute at the altar of Thespus.

YOU COULD NOT TAKE YOUR EYES AWAY FROM THE TV FOR EVEN A MINUTE. THINGS KEPT MOVING FORWARD CONSTANTLY. NO BORING SPOTS FOR BATHROOM BREAKS.

A stellar dystopian movie of our futuristic America, Minority Report deals with the myriad problems we will face as technology becomes more powerful. Breeches the subject of nanotechnology in a popular film... For a good read about a similar 1984-style book on nanotechnology, I recommend CONQUEST OF PARADISE by Britt Gillette, a fictional account of the assembler breakthrough. The problems of Minority Report may come sooner than we think.

Tom Cruise did a great job in this movie! So did Colin Farrel. I liked it because I thought it was cool how they could look into the future and predict when Murders are going to happen. It had a great plot!

Based on Philip K. Dick's short story, Minority Report stars Tom Cruise as John Anderton, a cop working for ''Precrime'' in 2054 Washington D.C. Interesting twist on ''thoughtcrime'' and great special effects from Steven Spielberg!
-
4.0 / 5.0
Spielberg and Cruise have done it again in this fast paced sci fi movie. Cruise plays Anderton, a cop in 2054 Washington who runs ''Precrime'' The agency purports to prevent murders. Problems arise when Cruise is ''seen'' by the ''precogs'' who work in the agency. Special effects are awesome and the product placements are made a for a good giggle.
-
4.0 / 5.0
Spielberg and Cruise work together in this futuristic science fiction movie about a new way of law enforcement in 2054 Washington, called ''Precrime''. Cruise plays tormented cop, John Anderton, whose son was kidnapped years earlier and now it influences all future decisions. Samantha Morton plays ''Agatha'', one of the precogs who ''sees'' crimes before they ''happen'' and does an oustanding job.(One wonders why she never speaks out about the slavery imposed on her by the Precrime system.) The special effects and human elements make this a very good story. Watch out for the gory bit about the eyes.

I had to admit, I was thrown by the ending. I have always liked Cruise, and I think he did a good job with this flick.

5.0 / 5.0
Minority Report is a spectacular Sci-fi ride that may only be for the "intelligent". This movie is slick and well thought out. A cool realistic Sci-fi version of the future for sure. This movie was far from a "bomb" as a another reviewer suggests in a previous review... he or she may have disliked it... but a "bomb"... no. Minority Report was critically aclaimed and did well at the box office and in DVD sales. Tom Cruise was outstanding and proves once again that he is one of Hollywood's most under rated actors who doesn't get enough credit.

Well... I liked it for the first half, but after that it started getting disgusting. I mean Eyeballs rolling around isn't exactly pleasent to look at. But I have to say the plot is amazing! I give a thumbs up to whoever thought of this kinda story.
