Strong design and Microsoft don't always go together, but they do in Windows 7. Users might take a while to get used to the new taskbar and Aero Peek, but they're a pleasure to use.

Okay first off this computer is a 2005 edition. And has been rock solid. But since I had major issues with a virus and trying to install Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 it's been a nightmare. New Microsoft office would not install no matter how hard the Microsoft tech tried. So I was forced to spend more money (on a very tight budget, but can't live w/o my computer) on upgrade Windows 7 since HP no longer had installation discs. Now understand these are not the same as system recovery CD-ROM discs. Which would have destroyed all my programs and data to date. Once I got the software the installation to me was a snap. Comes with 32-bit and 64-bit and all depends on your computer's hardware. Once the installation was computer I knew my hard disc drive would need to be upgraded. The ONLY saving grace here was the external 500gb 3.0 USB hard disc drive include backup and recovery software. Once I created a bootable CD-Rom and backup all my date to said HDD then it was only a matter of making the conversion. Which thank goodness all when as planned and worked out great in the end.

Ordering Windows 7 upgrade was easy. Delivery was ontime as expected. The product meets expectations and delivers performance from the first restart. BUT, you sent me a version from 2011. There have been 3 service pack upgrades since then. I still have about 5 hours of install to go that I can see. Which will trigger even more updates. Even the folks at the new Microsoft store were surprised that you shipped me such an outdated version when I had them do the install for me. Incomplete information or omitted information when I purchased it, miss-set my expectations. It cost me another day without my computer - which is the lifeblood of my business.

Though there was vague advice to back up programs and files, while installing W7 I mistakenly chose Custom. This wiped my programs and files from my hard disk. Many hours spent restoring files and programs. Tech support helpful, but took many hours, several calls, etc. Microsoft should install a warning on Windows 7 software that if one clicks Custom rather than picking "Upgrade" the hard disk will be wiped clean.

Vista was freezing and slow. Our problems on upgrade were largely to do with e-mail. Liked the embedded Windows Mail better. Don't really like Windows Live for e-mail.

I purchased this as an upgrade to Windows Vista. As an upgrade, it was a total failure. After the intital install; upon rebooting the computer, the operating system froze, prompting a continuous loop of recovery and reboot. After several attempts, we ended up wiping out the hard drive and doing a clean install. The only problem was the registration, since it was technically not an upgrade anymore. Microsoft was more than helpful, and got us set up.

Had heard it wasn'tthat great when first came out, but no problems so far. Just wish Staples would have told me that everything gets removed when it replaces the original Windows version my PC had. I could replace or retrieve fairly well, but it would have been nice to know this downside before install.

Checked "hard to install" because Toshiba no longer supports Win 7 drivers for their native Win 8 machines on their USA website. Bought laptop with Win 8 installed....Hated It!! Purchased Win 7 Home Premium to replace it, had it installed by Staples Tech Service, now very satisfied with machine and OS.

It was pretty easy to install. It didn't take that much time to install about an half an hour. It ran all my Vista programs. I wish I had updated to Windows 7 a long time ago.

We have 2 computers in our business operating and one had W-7 while the other Vista (the older computer). Suprisingly the older computer now with the W-7 upgrade operates faster and more effectively. It can also communicate with the other computer since Vista and W-7 were not real compatible. After thinking I would buy a new computer it was worth the money to get the upgrade software. It took hours to upgrade with the software with many times it restarting. I thought it would originally be an hour but it turned out to be 4-6 hours.

I finally used this to update a Vista desktop that I have. I never had issues with Vista, but it was time to update. I wasn't ready for Windows 8, and I teach Windows 7 in college. I had a laptop to do that, but my eyes aren't what they were, so I wanted to update the desktop to take advantage of the 25" widescreen monitor. Did not lose any data doing the upgrade and it is running like a top. The only reason that I have it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the time necessary to complete the update. Not saying that is a fault of the software itself, just took a lot more time than I expected.

I ran to cheeck win 7 compatibility check first then bought it and installed it virtually seemlessly_-no problems. So glad I didn't have to buy new computer. Love the upgrade.

    Taken straight from the box...
This version of Windows 7 is designed as an upgrade for Windows Vista. If you are upgrading from Windows XP, you will need to back up you files and settings, perform a clean install and then re-install your existing files, settings, and programs.

Best of luck with it lol

I bought Windows 7 to use in the future whenever Microsoft stops supporting Windows XP. Windows XP has the features and capabilities needed for the personal and business user. Windows 7 is a slight step-down, but still a very good operating system. I have installed Windows 7 previously and had no issues. However, when upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7, one MUST assure to copy or have the program disks of the installed programs since they will have to be re-installed afterwards.

I really like the Windows 7. I like the fact that it isn't a lot different from XP which I upgraded from. I've seen the new Windows 8 and don't like it and don't want it. All the new features are good in 7. Thumbs up for 7.

The upgrade worked easily and didn't trash my files. It did screw up my screen resolution, necessitating download of the monitor drivers.
