This software is a huge improvement over Vista. Sadly, there are a few applications that you lose such as Movie Maker.

Strong design and Microsoft don't always go together, but they do in Windows 7. Users might take a while to get used to the new taskbar and Aero Peek, but they're a pleasure to use.

Though there was vague advice to back up programs and files, while installing W7 I mistakenly chose Custom. This wiped my programs and files from my hard disk. Many hours spent restoring files and programs. Tech support helpful, but took many hours, several calls, etc. Microsoft should install a warning on Windows 7 software that if one clicks Custom rather than picking "Upgrade" the hard disk will be wiped clean.

Okay first off this computer is a 2005 edition. And has been rock solid. But since I had major issues with a virus and trying to install Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 it's been a nightmare. New Microsoft office would not install no matter how hard the Microsoft tech tried. So I was forced to spend more money (on a very tight budget, but can't live w/o my computer) on upgrade Windows 7 since HP no longer had installation discs. Now understand these are not the same as system recovery CD-ROM discs. Which would have destroyed all my programs and data to date. Once I got the software the installation to me was a snap. Comes with 32-bit and 64-bit and all depends on your computer's hardware. Once the installation was computer I knew my hard disc drive would need to be upgraded. The ONLY saving grace here was the external 500gb 3.0 USB hard disc drive include backup and recovery software. Once I created a bootable CD-Rom and backup all my date to said HDD then it was only a matter of making the conversion. Which thank goodness all when as planned and worked out great in the end.

Ordering Windows 7 upgrade was easy. Delivery was ontime as expected. The product meets expectations and delivers performance from the first restart. BUT, you sent me a version from 2011. There have been 3 service pack upgrades since then. I still have about 5 hours of install to go that I can see. Which will trigger even more updates. Even the folks at the new Microsoft store were surprised that you shipped me such an outdated version when I had them do the install for me. Incomplete information or omitted information when I purchased it, miss-set my expectations. It cost me another day without my computer - which is the lifeblood of my business.

After finally spending the money to upgrade from Vista(poor) to windows 7, I find it refreshing to have a new operating system. Slow to start up and lost some info from old system but it is much better than Vista.

Product would not upgrade Vista Professional. I did not think to ask the question, neither did the Associate in the store who sold it to me. I hope to find a computer that needs the software purchased soon.

It was very easy to install. I had Windows Vista on a 3 year old computer and it was a little slow at times. With this upgrade my computer is faster than before. I'm glad I got it.

After talking for about 6 weeks with yoour techs I decided to get Windows 7 upgrade from Visa. I believed it would be sooooooo simple to convert. I will have to really consider if I want to trust your techs info in the future.

Upgrading from the Vista Premium to OS 7 Premium was not difficult, but it took three passes to complete, because I did not completely resolve outstanding issues identified by the OS 7 Upgrade Advisor before attempting the upgrade.

Before upgrading, make sure to run the Microsoft OS 7 Upgrade Advisor program and fully resolve any issues identified before attempting the upgrade. If you do that, the update should complete the first pass, without any issues.

If you aren't somewhat familiar with Vista and Microsoft Operating Systems, you might be better advised to pay a professional to do this upgrade instead of attempting it yourself.

As for comparing Vista to OS 7, Vista is a Yugo... and OS 7 is a BMW. Finally, my high $$$ HP laptop appears to be functioning as it should instead of a "slightly better than useless" laptop. It now funtions as I expected it to when it was purchased. OS 7 may have convinced me to stay with Microsoft instead of moving to Apple next time...

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium as an upgrade to my current Vista OS, because I did not like Vista after having XP. Now, my computer crashes daily, always with the message'Windows Recovering from Unexpected Shutdown', (words to that effect). I can always get it back, but is a nuiscense and takes time. On the Plus side, once it is up, my response times are better than before. Can't seem to resolve the daily crashes.
