To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together." The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

This was my first Technic Lego set in 20 years. I have a young son that I wanted to expose to Lego Technic, and this set didn't disappoint. The build was super fun and challenging, lots of pieces, with each "step" - the chassis, cab, bed & pneumatic arm very well thoughtout. It took about 12 hours (over several days) to assemble, and has provided continuous hours of playtime fun for my son and I. The motorized and pneumatic functions work flawlessly! The battery life is fantastic, and the finished model is a very impressive conversation, educational and display piece. I'm a professional engineer (I design plastic parts), and I was so impressed, I showed this model to my coworkers and they were blown-away with quality, design, and engineering of the parts. I now plan on purchasing more Technic Lego sets in the future to add to our new collection. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

very involved build, took around 9 hours to put together total. being a mechanic i appreciate the complexity of the power transmission, the pneumatics and the driveline. after the initial sticker shock it was worth it.

I bought this for my son who loves to build things. He built it the day he got it and now he wants all of the lego technic products. They are pricey but worth it. I think this is a good investment for the mind....it spurs creativity.

I am coming back to Technic after about 15 years. I used to build these when I was a little kid, and the creativity of Lego always was top notch. Back in the day I could not afford to purchase Technic sets and the internet was very limited. But now, fast forward 15 years, I can afford to buy these (Manufacturing Engineer). Technic is for the advanced builder. That being said, if your child, or You for that matter loves to build things, learn how things work in the mechanical world, Technic transcends any age group. This set was designed with Mercedes Benz and is brilliant! It's so challenging. The 2000+ pieces make so interesting. Its so big too! The diameter of a tire is nearly 5"! Awesome. Has a differential, U-Joints, PTO shafts, a CRANE BOOM(Pneumatic controlled of course!). It's a must have for the gearhead. And don't think you're too old for it, its great! The price is high, yes, but oh so worth it I tell you! I LOVE IT!!!

Took my son days. He loves putting theses kind of things together. Money was more then what I wanted to spend but to see him put it together was worth it.
