it is a great toy. my grandoparents got it for me for my birthdsy. the racers move fast around the track. best set with yoshi but not as good as bowser castle ultimate building set. but there are major problems! it should cost a ton less or include more. the oringinal setup take the karts less then two minutes to do three laps! it is a small setup compared to bowser castle ultimate building set, (I own it and it is a lot better.) the insructions are not great but not as bad as some people say. very cool though over all. a good way to start your collection or get if you do not have much space!

This track would have been great if the things stayed together. It is really frustrating for my son b/c when we race the mario & yoshi figures are constantly falling out of the cars. Also, the cars themselves are built w/ legos, so they are constantly falling apart. Im always putting them back together....so my son cant race them both together w/o me needing to stop them every min. to put them back together again! The track took a while to build. Very time consuming. Directions could have been better in my opinion. I expected a more sturdy racetrack honestly...especially for what this costs. The track itself has obstacles that are built w/ knex pieces, so of course, they fall off & have to be assembled again too. I would have rather spent the $ to buy something that doesnt have to be re-built every 2 seconds! The mosy annoying thing is the drivers dont stay put when cars are in action

My 6 year old son got this set as a gift from Santa, as he requested. My husband had to help him put it together and it took them a while (an hour-ish) but it works and is really cute! The cars go fast and keep on going. There seemed to be a couple of small parts missing but it didn't seem to cause any problems. We'll see if he is still playing with it in a few months. One downside that I see is that we won't be taking it apart considerring how long it took to put together. I'll have to find a place for it to stay.

Had I read the reviews first, I would have purchased something else on my 7 year old son's Christmas Wish List. First off, the directions are hard to follow - making it a difficult assembly. Second - there were small parts missing - and I now have to search the internet to see if those parts are sold seperately. As other reviewers have said, the pieces are filmsy and fly off while racing. My son does enjoy playing with it - for all of five or ten minutes because its frustrating to constantly re-assemble the flying parts.

This is a great toy engineering feat race track for boys ages 8 and over. Younger than 8 would need help with following the directions and pictures for assembly. It is large when assembled, especially if you add on other sets of tracks, etc. This set provides small pieces to secure adjoining tracks. If there are young toddlers in the same home, avoid purchasing until youngest is over 3 years of age and does not put toy and toy pieces in mouth. A patient adult, who is not busy cooking, cleaning, tending to several children, etc., is an added help for a child of 7 or 8 years of age.

My 6 year old son got this from Santa - it took a while to put together, but it wasn't THAT bad. I just had to remind myself that it's a building set, not just a toy, and the building is supposed to be part of the fun! It's not the toy's fault I was putting it together at midnight on Christmas Eve ;-) That being said, there's no way my 6 year old could put this together on his own. Luckily, it's holding together very well - the track does not come apart while playing at all. Yoshi tends to fall out of his vehicle, but Mario stays in and so does the Bowser we purchased with a different set. The cars stay together well while on the track, even with all the bumping and crashing, but parts have come off while my son handles the cars. Again, it's a building set, not just a toy. You have to expect a little of that. My son really loves this set! My only problem with it is the battery life - it's really horrible. We have gone through two sets of batteries and he's only had it two days! We bought lithium batteries today - it's too soon to tell if they are going to last much longer. We're also looking into rechargeable batteries, because this toy is getting a lot of play!

Purchased this for my 10 yr. old son who is a huge Mario Kart fan. He LOVED this! He was able to put it together entirely by himself and it works exactly as it is supposed to. Couldn't be happier.

This was the WORST thing to buy my son for Christmas. The directions are so time consuming and hard to follow that I gave up on step 4. When we actually put the cars on the track, they go so fast that they either fly right off the track, or the pieces fall apart and you have to stop to put them back together. We can't take ours back soon enough. Don't waste your time. It was a poor product for the amount of money it costs.
