My house is 20 years old. We bought the house 2 years ago. Four bedroom. Four adults and one teenager living here. We used the recommended dosage of Rid-X monthly. Nov 2011 waste water started backing up in the one shower. We babied it for a while by attempting to take shorter showers, etc, but 1 Dec 2011 we had a septic service pump the septic tank. Septic guy told us that this 20 years old 1500 gallon tank had never been pumped in the past. Everything's good.Mar 2012 waste water started backing up in the one shower again. Surely my tank doesn't need pumped after just 3 months. I unscrewed the lid from the 4 inch clean out and thick brown greasy waste water was up over the top of the pipe. Again we babied it for a while but the waste level stayed high. I read everything I could on the internet concerning septic tanks backing up. I believe that the soil in my drainfield had crystalized. I read one article from a guy that bombarded his septic system with bacteria and it solved his problems. He used about a years' worth of bacteria at one time.I thought I'd give that a try. Contrary to the instructions on the container, I poured a bottle of this Septic Shock into my clean out once a week for 4 weeks. My clean out is now low where it should be and the waste water is pretty much clear.I don't know if the manufacturer of this Septic Shock would recommend this, but it worked for me. Good luck.

This product is great. I started using this over a year ago. use it monthly. If I see any trouble looming I'll pour another bottle.
