These mats are excellent, simple to install and resonably priced to eliminate snow and ice build ups on stairways and the Mats to keep porches clear. Definitely needed at my home. Now, when snow comes dont have to worry about shoveling or picking ice.. Great buy.

We have several older doggies who need to go down a few steps to get to the yard to potty. In the winter the steps sometimes get slick and icey. These treads are great for keeping the steps clear and our doggies safe. Absolutely love them! Sears has the best price on them that I could find online.

Live in Alaska and needed to find a way to make our front entrance safer. Bought 4 stair mats and one 20X60 mat to test them out. They work great! Good traction melts snow as fast as it can fall. We placed them on a timer with an hour on and 3 off unless it is snowing. Will be ordering 6 more stair treads and two additional 20X60's with an additional control unit. Appears to be very well made. They daisy-chain together nicely and can be installed quickly and easily.

Contrary to the previous review, you do not need a controller for each step mat so his 5 mats would cost $225. You can daisy chain each of the mats along with the sidewalk mats onto one controller. Their is a 15 amps limit which allows you up to 15 stair mats or a combination of stair mats and sidewalk mats. I have 8 step mats and one side walk mat daisy chained on my front steps and walkway. They work great. I usually have an severe icing problem on my steps, These mats have solved that problem without the use of damaging melting agents. (I have had to replace my steps 3 times in the past 10 years.) If this prevents the damage the ice causes it is worth the $365 I spent on the mats.

First thing I will say is that I did not buy this and can't attest to the quality of the product. However, when I first saw the product on Sears.com I was intrigued. Until I started reading the product description, particularly the not so nice way whoever wrote it points out that for $40 you are just getting the mat and nothing else. If you want it to heat you must purchase the heat control unit for another $25. The best part is that you only get one mat for that price of $65. Think about that for a second. If you have only 5 steps like I do you will spend $325 total. On top of that how would you plug it in? You would almost have to buy a garden stake if you don't already have one. The idea is great on this product, but the cost is absurd and the functionality is ridiculous.

We have one stairway that is very difficult to use in the winter because of freezing. We purchased this product not knowing if it would work. It does and very well. We would recommend this product to anyone who needs to have snow/ice free stairs. We are going to buy four more.

The snow-melting mats have done the job, without the damage that salt causes. Our steps tended to be icy, even when shoveled because any amount of moisture left on them would ice up. The mats have prevented them from getting icy in the first place.

Ordered these for my 78 year old mother who lives alone and has a fear of snow and slipping on the stairs to her home. Hoping these will eleviate her fears and keep her from going out in bad conditions to shovel her stairs. The concept seems great. Installation was a breeze. The Heattrak website also sells a remote control accessory which we purchased so she can turn the mats on and off without having to go outside. Home Depot's service and delivery were excellent.
