I live in an area that does not have city water, and my well has very hard water with the sulfer smell/taste. These filters work well to remove it, but don't seem to last as long as previous filters or ones that I can get from other sources. On exam, the filter element doesn't seem as thick as before or other brands, making is necessary to change the filter more often.I will continue to use these filters only when I can't get better ones for a similar price.

We use to buy mountain spring 5 gallon bottled water. I bought two GE Smartwater model number GXWH04F and put them in series with each other. I put a string filter in the first one and this carbon filter in the second on. Then I did a taste test with my wife, who I might add is very picky about the taste of her water. I put bottled water in a cup and the filtered water in another. She could not tell them apart. that goes for everyone in the family. I couldn't tell the difference.

THe filters do what the specs say they do because before I installed the system and started using the filters we could and would not drink water from the faucet because the taste was so bad.We would have toput water in fridge but now we can drink the water. Its not as good as I would like it to be but it is as good as its going to get because any other filters I tried did not work,

Great filter for the money! I use this filter for my well water which is generally good. I brew beer.... and this filter is all I need between earth and my brew pot. The reason they stop up so fast (reduced pressure flow) is because they are doing what they are supposed to do - filtering everything that isn't water out! I can't guarantee any specs but I boil my water after it has been filtered so spores and viruses and all the monsters that are trying to get inside me don't survive the rolling boil in my brew pot.Stock up on these. The price can't last forever.

After a little reading, I've come to the conclusion that this filter is still the best choice for a small housing, whole house filter.I assumed I'd be able to find them cheaper online, and that is just not the case. Even compatible filters, when shipping is included are the same or more money.It annoys me how short-lived a filter is (3-4 weeks before a noticable pressure loss), but until I have the time and budget to explore a larger system I'll stick with these. Our tap water tastes great.

The filter unit does exactly what is says.... it reduces sediment, rust, dirt, and chlorine from my water line but it is not an R.O filter so its only a reduction and NOT a removal of chlorine taste and smell, but for what its worth it does a fantastic job at helping my dishwasher and laundry machine as well as my old piping and with a 0.2 micron filter mesh wrap around its highly recommended..

I have been using these for my well pump at my cottage. These do a very nice job for what they are meant to do. As cheap as they are I replace them more frequently and understand that their life is only as good as the conditions they function under. I replace them at 3 month intervals and find that cycle to be about the best for me.

I bought your filter a month ago. I have city water with with a strong chlorine taste. I installed your filter, but some of the chlorine smell is still there.
