I've currently had this thermostat for a year now and its worked great for me. Its really accurate on the temperature and I like the energy save mode option to hit when I'm at work during the day. Since I've had this I've saved at least $50 a month on my electric bill.

This product initially works great. After about 6 months the touchscreen stopped working. It's really hard to program a touchscreen thermostat if the screen itself doesn't work.

Purchased in late December 2011 to replace a non-programmable t-stat. At first, it functioned beautifully. On 3.31.2012, it failed. This was verified by our professional HVAC tech. It was returned/exchanged for a different, name brand, t-stat that our HVAC guy recommended. I cannot recommend this unit after our experience and the multiple low reviews on this site. If you choose a Filtrete model, I pray you have a better experience than we did.

Had it for a few days when it started failing and reverting back to factory defaults. I even programmed the "hard" override to bypass all of the "energy saving" options so that it basically functioned like an old fashioned device. Yes, like many products made in China, it is simply a clunky piece of plastic not designed to last for years and years to come - No, it's designed to fail so that you buy another one. Well, I'm just going to re-install the old one and return it in the morning.

Im upgrading parts of my home and i have an old school thermostat. So i was thinking might as well update to a digital one, thinking it would be user friendly to program. WRONG!!!! Dont get me wrong the item is nice looking and very eay to install but once you try to set to the temp you want, it goes back to the "default" setting. i did everything the manuel said but the instructions are not user friendly at all. I call Tech suspport 3 times, on hold for over 10 mins and voicemail come up. I have not yet recieved a call back for this company. im returning this item as soon i buy i a better one.if any of you are looking into buying a thermostat, please go to company website first and read maunel and if any questions call the company before you start spending money.

quite happy w/ this tstat. easy to install & just as easy to program. my only trivial complaint would be the aesthetics...there are large slots @ either end of the stat that re quite noticeable from the sides. other than that works great & does its job.

Bought this model to replace 2 other touchscreens that stopped working. The touchscreen works well and the backlight is a great feature. Programming is not too difficult and there are enough time zones. The bad/quirk is that I am having a problem where every day at 6:00 pm when in heating mode the thermostat will reset back to a lower temperature. I program the temp low and over ride to a higher temperature when I am home. When I am home I will over ride and set to 70 degrees. At 6:00 pm for no apparent reason the thermostat switches to 62 degrees. My time zones are no where near 6:00 pm. This is a real disappointment since in my 9 years of home ownership I am on my 3rd touchscreen from HD for various failures/problems. While this one still "works" it does not work as intended.

Bought this at HD and connected it within an hour. Programming it is not as easy as the Honeywell models, because it does not allow you to select multiple days when setting up the schedule.Worst part is that it failed within a month of operation. Looking for the receipt to return this piece of junk :-(

Although I had high hopes for this thermostat and installation was a snap, my regard for it immediately dropped several notches when I started using the touch screen to configure it. Unlike a touch screen smart phone whereon you can generally touch the screen in the vicinity of the desired function and it will know what you want to do, you have to play around with this device quite a bit to learn precisely where and how firmly to touch the manipulate each function. This wasn't pleasant but it was forgivable, considering how rarely you need to interact with basic programming once a thermostat is configured. The point at which I decided it must go back is when I realized the unit would simply not hold programming, even during the programming process. I repeatedly--and very carefully--configured each day to my liking and then went through the program to make sure I got it right. Invariably, one or two of the seven days (always Friday &/or Saturday) would not how their program. I'd go through again and again the programming would be lost. I will take this back and upgrade to the WiFi version and see how that goes.

I love that this thermostat has such a large display. I can see the numbers from across the room. The thermostat was easy enough to program, and very easy to use. I highly recommend this thermostat.

We bought 2, one for each floor, and had to replace both of them right out of the box because of a manufacturer defect. We've had the replacement thermostats in for about 2 months and the one upstairs quit working once we switched it over to heat. Customer service for Filtrete wasn't much help, in fact they were quite rude. Now I have to replace another one. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing another Filtrete product.

I installed and programmed this unit as specified in the installation manual. The installation and programming went well and my Heat Pump worked well for 2 days then the screen just went blank and the thermostat quit working. I pressed the reset button and changed batteries and still No Joy! I will be returning this to HD.

This thermostat was very easy to install. I had one question about wiring it and called the help line. I had a person on the line in about 3 min and he helped walk me through the wiring process. VERY happy with this product. The price was VERY good when compared to other brands of equal options.

I bought this thermostat because it was capable of running off the 24 volts from the furnace transformer so I wouldn't have to change batteries all the time. After 3 months it no longer operates off the 24 volts and will only operate off batteries. I contacted 3M Filtrete customer service and they would do nothing for me.

I bought this to replace what I think is a defective original thermostat. It can be very confusing installing these but with the tech support it was a breeze.I like the back-lit display that turns on when you press a button. My old unit didn't have that feature. It would be very difficult to see at night. The newly modeled unit looks much better than the image on the site. All of the programming buttons are hidden. It also covered my old unit's footprint nicely.

I bought this because it had a lock out function. My son likes to adjust settings when I am not home. This put an end to it. It was easy to install. I was able to do it myself. Put the stickers that came with the unit on the wires from my old unit and then put the wires in the proper place on the new. That simple. You can program temps for morn, day, eve & night and by each day.

I replaced a rite temp thermostat with this unit a few days ago, I admit Im thorough and followed the directions to a T including marking all the wires even though I have replaced therms quite often, well, powered everything back on after installing and the wife says, something just blew up, heading back to HD tomorrow for a diff brand. You get what you pay for sometimes.

The install took about 5 minutes, if you are use to honeywell with the detachable back plate, you wont find that here. Other than that has been working great with out issue.

Overall, these units were a pain to install, missing mounting hardward to cover hole in the wall from old manual thermostat. Also very poor documentation, did not cover heat pumps - had to call for support to get that jumper setting. But main problem is that if it cools too much, it doesn't simply turn off, it tries to raise the temp, then it does that too much, then tries to cool again - so it is swinging back and forth - cool, hot, cool. They say it can't but I have two filtrete therms that DO! DO NOT BUY FILTRETE BRAND - a normal person will have installation problems, and it uses more energy than the dumb mechanical thermostats! Here is the transscript with their tech support:When I have it set on cool, how do I prevent it from turning on the heater to raise the tempurature in program modeHi. This is Bobbi. When you have the unit set to cool, it should not be turning the heater on at all.but it isIs your heat gas or electric?electricheat pump settingjumpers 4,5,7model is 3M-25What wires do you have?r,g,y,ww is set to Or to RHon original manual thermistat is was set r to R, y to Y, g to G, w to WOK. Take the RH Y G wires out of thermostat and twist them together. Tell me if you get heat or a/c.no thanksexplain before I do something like thatIt's a simple wire test to see what is going on with your heat pump and the thermostat.obviously the a/c is working fine in all other ways, just when the therm. want to raise the term because it cooled a little bit too much it turns on the heatThe 3m25 model does not have the capacity to change your system from heat to cool.or is the unit tuning off the a/c and just leaving the fan blowing? this is Miami - it's always hot hereThat is what we were trying to test with the wires.the test will take quite a whiletell me what I should expectI have to power it off, and strip the wiresif that causes the a/c, then what does that mean, is it a jumper problem?originallt we had just 4 & 7 and the a/c was not coming on at all - just fanWhen you connect those three wire together you will get either heat or cool from your vents. If you get heat, add the O wire to the other 3 to get cool. Then let it run for awhile and see if it does the same thing it is doing when the wires are connected to the thermostat. If it does, it's your system. If it do not have the same problem, it is the thermostat.got it, throw the thermostate in the garbage is the answer

After owning this for two years, it started to fail. at first i thought it was a dying battery, although battery indicator did not come on, so i changed the battery, it made no difference. First signs of failure were sporadic touch screen sensitivity, sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Then the backlight failed to turn on when touched, when touch worked. Next phase of failure was it would reset on its own, dumping the programming i had entered, returning to factory settings about once a week. Now nothing works, and all it does is flash all the segments of the LCD sections (temp, day of week, time).

The Filtrete 3M-30 has nice features but it keeps horrible time lost almost 10 minutes in 3 months and now with one year approaching it has stopped working correctly. I would choose a different brand. It does come with a five year warranty but them making good on it is another story plus its hard to heat your home with a broken thermostat.

So going into this for the first time never having changed a thermostat. I was a little intimidated by all the wires my system had due to the heat pump. The directions that were laid out were a breeze to follow and made the installation so simple, but here is were the problems lie.First, why in the world would you have the wires come over top of the system and not in the middle like most that I have done research on. Second, a simple little rectangle sticker isn't going to stay on for long to hide the wires. Yes I can paint them, but why would I want to?Lastly, quite a few people had issues with the touch screen and I have to agree. The screen is not very sensitive to the touch and makes it very difficult to navigate through the system. Though, I found that using a pen or stylist works just fine.Honestly though I cannot complain. I was at Home Depot one morning looking at all of the thermostats. A dude from the Plumbing Department came over and we talked for a bit and he noticed that this model was suppose to be discontinued and sold it to me for $10. So all in all I'm out ten bucks and not mad at all for getting another brand that I think will work better for my home.

Installation was OK, and the 7 day programming feature is nice. Beyond that, this is not a very worth-while purchase. The touch screen is very difficult to use and often non-responsive. It can get very frustrating. I had a power outage about 2 months after installing this unit, and it quick working after that. I was actually happy to have an excuse to get something more user-friendly.

After a bit of frustration of damaging the screen, oops, the screen was not very responsive. A big problem that made me mad was the fact that the system would complain of low battery and sometimes reset itself when I put two fresh AA's in it. Not good quality. Find something else.
