It would be a great product if the random self test didn't go off several times a week.

This product offered many good features for the price. It was very easy to program, with simple instructions. Loud alarm would wake anyone from a sound sleep.

Have had 2 times when unit went into TESTmode on it's own, since I have had it for 3 weeks. And, no- I was not using a remote control which this can be tested with. Too bad, as it has great features, but random test alarms force me to return item and select another company's product.

I had one of these and got rid of it. My TV and stereo remotes kept setting it off. Very annoying at midnight!

The voice smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is easy to install and worked perfectly upon testing. The fire inspector and new homeowners were very happy. Thus, so was I!

Great unit and remote testing feature using TV remote. Only concern is unit has a life expectancy of seven years.

This is a good product, but for us the remote control sensor caused me to get rid of them. It only mentions using a remote to mute the alarm on the package, not the ability to "test" the unit by remote. My daughter has a moon that hangs on the wall that turns on by remote. The remote also sets off the alarm in her room, even though I'm pointing it to the opposite side of the room. It has scared her so much she demanded we take the moon out of her room. Twice my 1 year old got a hold of the tv remote and accidentally set off the one downstairs, scaring the heck out of both children.I'm getting models without the remote control feature. I'm deducting points based off our experiences.

Co alarm activated after haircut. Open door & air the room for a short while. Alarm stops. Extremely sensitive. Piercing voice, would normally wake up anyone asleep. Easy batteries installation.

Easy to install and operate and the instructions were good, too. The instructions recommend avoiding installing near fluorescent lights (within a foot or two) and this includes energy saving lights in ceiling fixtures... Turning the light on trigger the test alarm a few times, but that was my fault for not following the instructions. Nice little product though... I like it.

I purchased 2 of these smoke detectors. One of the detectors had a problem with it. The voice testing did not stop talking unless battery was removed and then I put the battery back in it did not stop. I took it back and got my money back. I reorder the same detector again and it was ok. So bother detectors are working excellent. I have an older one just like the 2 I purchased it has been working for 2 years without a problem. Excellent product.

Lots of complaints about the alarm going into test mode for no reason. I had the same problem. Took it down and it sat for months. I realized "HEY THERE IS A WARRANTY". When I called up customer service, as soon as I mentioned the problem... "Oh yeah, a remote control or energy saving light bulb probably is setting it off, disable the IR sensor and it will stop". It was simple, Open the battery door with the batteries in, hhold down the test button while closing the door, a chirp will sound and then the IR mode is disabled. So far no more problems.Otherwise it is a smoke/CO alarm that sits there and doesn't do anything exciting.

This is the safest type of detector becuase not only does it do smoke and carbon monoxide, but it is photoelectric. That means it detects even small amount of slow burning smoke which can fill a room before fire breaks out. Very Important to have all three features.

This is the worst smoke detector ever. Started with six two months ago, have smashed four so far to stop these middle-of-the-night surprise testing sequences. THIS PRODUCT GOES INTO A MASSIVELY LOUD TEST ROUTINE WHEN YOU TURN ON COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not 12-inches away, anywhere. Unbelievable that Home Depot sells this piece of garbage. Absolutely avoid. What were they thinking!

Purchased this online and had it shipped to store. It arrived quickly and was easy to pick up. It is a good product for the price, and is loud enough. However. It has a feature that allows you to run a test with any remote control. This may sound like a great idea, but the thing goes off every time anyone uses a remote control in the same room (including one of the kids with a remote control toy). So if you and your family don't use remotes much and/or if you would have difficulty standing on a chair to press the test button, then this is the product for you. Otherwise, perhaps not.
