I would definately recommend this blender. I had been searching for a blender for a while. Dreaming of a vitamix but they are soooo expensive.First I actually bought a Healthmaster which is a cheaper version of a Vitamix. I was walking throught the store and saw one in the discount section in my Bed Bath and Beyond. It was only $100 (normally $200) since it had been previously returned (no reason listed why) but I thought it was a great opportunity to try it out for a cheaper price!I took it home and for a couple of weeks I loved it until brown goopy sludge like oil was leaking from the bottom plus it really seemed to struggle with blending frozen stawberries which seemed odd. I would have to let them thaw a bit and have to stir around everything. But then the oil was so bad dripping over my counter I returned it. The store was fabulous and took it back no problem!I traded it in for a Ninja which worked good but didnt quite blend spinach in my smoothies as well as the Healthmaster. So I returned it and thought I would try a brand new healthmaster since the previous one I bought was in the return section. But no.. that one had the gross brown oil goop too and I could even taste it in my smoothie!!! Gross! So I returned it and finally found this Cuisinart Gem! It blends very well no huge bits of spinch to chew, probably not as smooth as Vitamix but close enough for me. I absolutely love it and have been using it about twice a day for 2-3 months.I would highly recommend this blender!

I must agree with the negative reviews. I didn't use mine often but when I did, it was for softer foods like tomatoes, bananas, yogurt. etc. It didn't last more than 20 uses. It just stopped spinning. When I wrote to Cuisinart, they said for me to send it to them and they can repair it for a minimum fee of $50 + shipping. I might as well buy a new one - but not a Cuisinart.

Very, very poor quality! Blender Collar broke apart while in use and motor died within 1st 4 months of ownership.

The blender is underpowered and the food processor is undersized. The motor sounds like a jet engine and smells like an electrical fire waiting to happen. This thing needs to come off the shelf, for good.

I love my blender and food processor. Super easy to use and in perfect working condition, I read some of the other reviews posted, and am surprised by some of the comments. This blender/food processor rocks!!

Thought I'd get a good machine from a reputable company that would serve as a blender and small processor - WRONG. First, it wouldn't blend - square base didn't create vortex, so I had to constantly get in with a spatula to move things around for better (still not acceptable) mixing. Even then, the results were lumpy. The processor was just as bad at mixing, and had no safeties - would have been simple to process your fingers.and the noise - the cats ran and hid every time we used it....The motor finally started smoking and that was the end of it.I bought this appliance despite the poor reviews ---how bad could it be?Worst Appliance Ever. Run away.

I had this on my wedding registry because I liked the fact that it was both a blender and food processor. The blender barely works - it doesn't effectively mix things around so you are left with huge chunks. Also it is LOUD. Just yesterday, the food processor blades started rubbing against the plastic, causing it to smoke and almost catch fire. This is going back today. DO NOT BUY THIS!!

We received this as a wedding present and have only had it for a few months and it already broke! Taking it back today. Going to try the Ninja as it got GREAT reviews. Hoping to have better luck with that.

After spending 2 day's researching reviews and and settling on the good name of Cuisinart I purchased the Smart Power Blender, which is the same as all the Cuisinart blenders of all models with just fancier names. Got it home and set it up to the instructions and made a pitcher of rum punch in the recepie book that came with the blender that called for whole ice cubes, it came out delicious. Superbowl Sunday, guests arrived and commented on the beautiful red blender at the bar. They requested margarita's so i went to work, those to came out delicioius also. Now for the CATCH , some requested non-alcoholic margarita's so I went to work again as a good host would. Boy was I embarrased. They came out lumpy with chunks of ice and seeded limes. Called Cuisinart Monday morning to ask for a solution for this blender that was used 3 times. They asked what did i put in it? I told them and they then they replied that whole ice cube from my ice maker in my freezer will dull the blade, but we will send you a new blade. I replied the blender is advertised to crush ice and ice will "dull" it's blade, don't bother. it went back today. Oh and just another note Cuisinart is now made By CONAIR, the same people that make those cheap hairdryers, HMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

I thought I'd do well to get a nice brand name food processor and blender - a two for one type deal taking up less space. The processor works well, but is crazy loud. I mean, really really loud! The blender portion, which mostly make milkshakes in our family, began leaking, then completely fell apart at the bottom. I expected more from Cuisinart, but I think the brand has faded quickly.

I put this on my wedding registry list because I loved that it was both a blender and a food processor. I suppose I didn't really read all the other reviews before I received it, but maybe that is a good thing! I have been very pleased with the machine's performance. Perhaps it is a bit loud, but I have found it mixes, blends, crushes, shreds and frappes very well! I cook with it at least weekly, if not more. I also have found it to be very easy to clean. Maybe I just haven't had nice cooking equipment, but I think that for starting a new household, this is a great tool.

This is the second of these things from cuisinart that I've owned and it also broke within a year. I am going to try to take it back and exchange it for a regular blender of another brand.

I expected so much more from Cuisinart. Average product that unfortunately broke after only three months of use. The worst part is that when I went to get it repaired/replaced from Cuisinart, they requested that I mail the product back to them, incur the cost for postage as well as that hassle, and include $10 check for them to mail my repaired product back. Seriously? So, I end up paying an additional $20 for a product I have owned for three months. BUT, I will buy all future appliances from BB&Beyond. Their hassle-free return policy is fantastic! I will be the proud owner of another brand's blender/food processor as soon as I make it into BB&B for the return.

So I purchased this blender/food processor thinking I would kill two birds with one stone. I make daily health shakes and enjoy cooking so I figured this would be the ideal unit for both needs: making shakes and as a food processor. The first week I made the mistake of throwing ice cubes in the blender. The blender simply could not mash the cubes so I had to go in there with a spoon and mix the cubes off the blades. It was not unusual to do this 4-5 times! Finally I smartened up and used crushed ice. That worked for a couple of days until today when the blender simply stopped working. It smells like the engine burnt out and thats the problem with this blender. As a food processor, its powerful enough to do what it needs to do but when it comes to ice, it simply cannot handle the job. If you`re in need of a serious blender, AVOID THIS ONE.

I bought this product more for the food processor part and thought the blender would just be a nice addition. The food processor is very loud, and does not chop well. You cannot fill up the bowl to capacity or it will not work well. Definitely disappointed with this purchase and will be returning it.

While the blender works great with this combo appliance, the food processor is really less than I was wanting. I realized that it was going to be small, but I thought that the trade-off of having a two-in-one would be worth it. However, I found that this appliance is REALLY LOUD. Much more so than a normal blender or food processor. Overall, I wish I had picked out something else.
