"I used to sell Surefire at a gunstore I worked at. For a similar light you would pay at least 3 to 7 times more. This light is awesome. Why:1. Common batteries. Buy in bulk at Home Depot. Or, better yet, rechargables.2. LED, no filament to break or gas to fade.3. Compare to the cheapest Surefire - only 60 - 80 Lumens versus Sears 160 and same price.4. Aluminum body.5. Body switch versus tail cap. Unless your shooting, the body switch is way more comfortable."

This is a very light duty flashlight. If you drop it 2inches above the ground it will stop working. I have been through 3 already, mainly becuase I love Craftsman and keep giving them chances to redeem their brand. This light only has a 1yr warranty, so far 2 of my 3 were warranty replaced. It is bright, I love that, it is nice to hold, feels good in the hand, not cheap. But better suited for household functions, not outdoor work. We keep this one on the mantle for power outages or to check on the kids at night, I wish I could use it at work, but I tend to drop things and this one will not stand up to my job.

I am a homeowners claims adjuster and needed a bright, sturdy, easily portable flashlight. This flashlight fit the bill. It is solid and sturdy and very bright. This was exactly what I needed. I use it on a daily basis in all conditions. It has held up for several months. I would certainly purchase again.

I purchased this LED flashlight for my son for Christmas last year.. It is super bright and the batteries will last at least 10 times longer than in a standard flashlight. It is solidly built and has a metal casing. Because it is LED the bulb will also last much longer than one in a standard flashlight.

I got this light about a year ago and have been very happy with it. It has good battery life and puts out a lot of light. I would recommend this light to anyone looking for a good small light. I like to keep it in my car as it comes in very handy. I realy like the hi low settings that it has.

This was just the flashlight I was looking for. Very bright LED flashlight and just the right size. After owning it for less than one year, I accidently dropped it on my patio from a height of about 2 feet. It completely stopped working. Very disappointed. This flashlight is very delicate and not up to Craftsman quality.

Great flashlite. I own two, but they do not work now. The battery holder is very weak. It broke when installing the batteries. The plastic is very weak

I got mine a couple years ago and do not regret my purchase. No, it does not have an adjustable focus, but it's one bright, solid, general purpose light. The removable battery holder is well-made (The metal seems to be nickel-plated so it's not aluminum) and has survived batteries that had leaked and corroded. A key ring can be solidly attached to it's bottom allowing you to hang it from your belt with a carabiner clip. The housing is made of aluminum, but it's threads are large and will not easily strip. The rubber button and switch still function as new. I expect to get many more years of service from this light.

I've used this flashlight for over a year and was very happy with the purchase until a few days ago.

This thing puts out a lot of very bright white light and is very easy on batteries - and by easy I mean incredibly easy, I got over a year on one set of 6 AAAs. This flashlight is not what I would consider compact, but it is definitely small considering the light it puts out - color me impressed. It has 2 light settings and there is very minimal difference between them.

The beam cannot be focussed. It throws out a lot of light around the beam. The on/off button on the side is a PITA. It is recessed in the side of the flashlight and not easy to find in the dark by feel (even though you know right where it is) and I have never been able to turn it on when wearing gloves.

Now the bad, the flashlight fell out of my jacket pocket a few nights ago when walking the dog. It landed on its side with no visible exterior damage to the flashlight save for a small nick in the case near the bottom - but the flashlight will no longer turn on. The flashlight feels sturdy and given the craftsman name/reputation I had much higher expectations for how rugged it would be. I know that I dropped it, but as this was the first time I was surprised it didn't turn back on.

I love these flashlights. It appears to be very well made, offers strong light and has very affordable battery use. They're compact and easy to carry -- great to put in a bag or leave in a glove compartment.

Online it indicates this light is 160 lumens. It is actually 170 lumens. The Craftsman model 93602 is 160 lumens and I own both. Model 93685 takes 6 AAA batteries and is slightly longer. Model 93602 takes 3 AAA batteries.

I've owned these flashlights for a little over a year now. I've bought a number of high quality LED flashlights and these are the best overall. All of the others have had the rear switch but I prefer the side switch. These are the only quality lights I've found with the side switch.

The only other one I've owned that is as bright, not brighter, was fairly expensive and requires 2 lithium 3 volt batteries that are expensive and don't last very long. These take the AAA's and they will last quite a while and don't dim until they're near done.

I've also had a couple of 3 watt LEDs for several years that are plastic rather than aluminum making them lighter. They are bright, but not as bright. Certainly the case will not be as strong, but because I still use them too, I notice the weight difference. At about the same price, the side switch and brighter beam make the Craftsman my favorite.

I caught a great sale on this one, so for $20.00 it's one great flashlight. Even at the regular $39.99 price, it's still a good one. I bought it as a temporary replacement for my brand name high power, focused beam flashlight that came with a lifetime guarantee. I used the old one 40 to 50 times daily, and after two years (or more), the switch failed. I knew that the warrantee claim might take as long as a month, so I tried a conventional bulb type light, but found that it was like working in the dark after using a good LED light for those two years. This Craftsman doesn't have the focused beam that the brand name offered, nor did it come with a lifetime warrantee, but as I said above, it's a great light at the price. I can buy standard batteries anywhere - and it's bright. Thanks kozmo

I bought this flashlite over a couple of other choices thinking the standard Craftsman handtool replacement policy applied to it. I am now wiser for my loss and know now that it does not. If it breaks within short period of time and/or if you have not bought an additional warranty, Sears says it's your problem, not theirs. I liked this flashlight alot and it got a lot of use. Though well taken care of, and in excellent condition in all other aspects, the switch I see everyone complaining about broke and, because it's a little over a year old and I unwittingly did not purchase an additional policy, Sears says now that there is nothing they will do. I don't want the money for it, I just want a flashlight that I had previously liked to work. Be very aware that you need to buy additional coverage if you want to keep this light for any length of time. I guess I should have read the fine print. I just assumed (and you KNOW what they say about assuming... LOL) that because it was "Sears", that they would support their hand tool in the usual manner by replacing it if it broke. Silly me... my bad. For the additional cost, I might just as well have bought an additional backup flashlight... or two... or three. yes, I am very disappointed and will be much more cautious and hesitant with my any of my future Sears hand tool purchases.

This is the best flashlighy I have ever owned, as BRIGHT aas my led mag lite and 1/4 the weight or size. This light does everything I'll ever need and any more it seems easier to find triple a batteries than d cell. Every aspect if this light is fantastic and it has an incredible beam of light I have not found an instance where an adjustable light wood be more beneficial

I wanted a flashlight to keep around the house for the occasional power outage, and one for camping.  This flashlight is bright and light.  The build is solid and it takes a standard size battery, just a lot of them.  It seems like this flashilight should last a long time and I don't see any weaknesses.  The button on the side is easy to push, but for me I don't like a button on the bottom or twist on-off.  I prefer to grab for a flashlight when I need it and push a button on the side, perfect for my needs.

The package now says 170 Lumes.  I like this light. I am getting to like LED lights.   It will not replace my Surefire for tactical light, but for my shop its great.  I like the 6 x AAA battery feature.  I can recharge AAA, but not my Surefire batteries.  12/19/09, on sale $19.99, Made in Taiwan, Energzer batteries from USA.

I tested at 60 feet tonight on the fense and it worked well with good light.

I purchased this light because of an upcoming camping trip. I have a few small LED lights and wanted something with a little more punch to take out into the forest. At home, I couldn't find anything I didn't like about it. Once I got out into the forest (Allegheny National Forest) I realized it would be nice if the beam was able to be focused. It floods out a bit more than I thought it would, but it's not a big deal. It is a very bright, white light. However the more times I needed to grab this light in the middle of the night, I started to realize how annoying it is to have the on/off button on the side and not on the bottom. When it's very dark outside and you can't see, its very frustrating not being able to find the on/off switch! Also, I was always paranoid the light was going to get e on when it was in my back pack, because it would be very easy for the switch to get bumped on. If I knew how annoying it was having the switch on the side rather than on the bottom, I would not have purchased this light. If you don't think this would bother you, then it is a good light and I say go ahead and get it. But if you're going to be grabbing this light in the dead of night, you are going to wish the button was on the bottom!

I bought this flashlight based on the on-line reviews and I'm glad I did. I use this light every day in my work as an aircraft mechanic and it works very well. It provides a tremendous amount of light in a beam that goes a long way and stays focused. If I had to fault it for anything, it would be the fact that there isn't much of a difference between the high and low settings. Both give a lot of light. I give this light 2 thumbs up, because that's all the thumbs I have.

This Craftsman flashlight is a good light. I've used in daily in my work as a Commercial Aviation Mechanic. The light is very bright, and it is not big and bulky. It is more than adequate to see into all of those nooks and cranies on the airplanes that I work on. The only complaint that I have is that by placing the on/off button on the side of the flashlight, the light often turns on without my knowledge whenever I slide them into a special side pocket in my coveralls. This special pocket in my coveralls is not tight to the body of the flashligt, yet I've found that it is not that difficult to turn the flashlight on by accident. That can lead to a lot of extra battery usage. Some other flashlights have the on/off button located on the bottom of the flashlight. That would be a great design change. I realize that most people are not slipping the flashlight into their special coverall side pockets, so the button on the side will work out just fine. However, this minor issue is something to consider if you intend to use the flashlight in a similar situation as mine. Over all though, I would still recommend this flashlight for general use.

We purchased this light over 1 year ago. We just went back for another. I am now using the new one as my primary work flashlight. I am very hard on a work flashlight and this one is wonderful. It is very bright, small enough for tight spaces, and durable. The switch is in a convenient location (unlike Maglight). It takes 6 AAA batteries and to my surprise they last a very long time. Check the Lumens before you buy. I found this one to be the most Lumens for the dollar. It is a little pricey, but well worth it if you want a bright light.

I just want to say that I was really impressed with this flashlight. I will be returning the Maglite and picking up another Craftsman's flashlight. I have only had it for a couple of days so I hope it is rugged enough for everyday use. We shall see.

I bought this on sale for $19.99 after looking at several other lights from streamlight, surefire and dorsey. This light is really bright and small. After getting it home I compared its 160 lumens to a maglite 3d cell light and the Craftsman light was brighter even on low. On bright it is really bright. The only thing I would have prefered was the switch on the end instead of the side.

I have used and own this company's products before. What I like most is that it uses standard AAA batteries, available anywhere. It's very bright, durable with it's metal construction, and battery life is good. I would recommend this flashlight to anyone.

I have a few Dorcy LED flashlights that I like but I'm really impressed with the beam this Craftsman puts out. LED flashlights are great at battery life but are gradually coming along in matching light output to bulb-style lights. This flashlight is a major step up and excellent value on sale.

This little flashlight packs quite a punch, It has a high intensity single led. I have had a Streamlight SL-20XP for a number of years, this led based light is as bright if not brighter then that halogen light. Would have gave it 5 starts if the on/off switch had momentary on mode, it has high/low/off.
