The character of Candy was very intruiging from the start, and through the story you unravel her and find out that she holds many dark secrets. I like that this is a romance told in the prespective of a male, instead of female. You see all these romances where the girl is describing how wonderful this boy is, completly star-struck, but in this book, a guy by the name of Joe gives you a feel of how guys fall in love. I also love how the story is basically of Candy's life, but it is all told through Joe, who learns the story by asking her questions and finding things out. The book did have a sort of awkward story plot, making it very unrealistic at many points, but really, who cares? The book is wonderful, and I greatly enjoyed reading it, although I doubt I'm going to re-read it.

This book was great! You really feel like you are in the story and have to help Candy get through her addiction and away from her drug life. A little slow the first chapter or two but then it get really going. Definitely one of my favorites!

Candy is a book everyone must read. Almost all teenagers would enjoy this book. This book is about a boy who falls in love with a girl that is far from different. She is into drugs like a lot of teenagers today. He tries to change her but has a hard time with it. However he never gives up. That is why I think this book deserves a five out of five stars. Candy is written by Kevin Brooks. When he wrote this, I think that he was not only writing it for entertainment but to let people know that not only girls can fall in love but guys can too people just never realize it. I think that he tried to target teenagers as his audience in this story because guys don¿t like talking about falling in love with girls and he is trying to show that it is ok. The person who is telling this story is Joe, and I think that it is important that he is the one telling the story because it tells the story from the boy¿s perspective rather then the a girl¿s perspective. If he didn¿t write it like this, I think that it would not have such a great message. The character I connected most with was Joe. I would have to say because I had a friend that was into drugs and I tried to help clean him up. It was hard work and I wanted to give up, but however I never did. I think that Brooks was successful with reaching his goals in writing this book. I believe I learned what he wanted to get across to his audience because it showed that Joe was falling in love and that he never gave up even when he thought things weren¿t working out. For example, at one point in the novel he went to find Candy at her apartment, and while there Iggy showed up. Joe thought that he was going to die, but he never gave up. Instead he left and took Candy with him. That is why the books title is so significant, because it relates to the girl Joe falls in love with and the girl he is always thinking of. Like Joe says, ¿It¿s a day that never dies.¿ I would recommend this book to my classmates and friends because when I was rating this book I gave it a five. Plus, it is just one of those books that almost everyone can relate too. Also the ending of this book was great because it was very intense it made you want to keep reading. It ends in a way that you would never think it would end. Time for the conclusion: I think this book was absolutely great because it was the kind of book I didn¿t want to put down. I wanted to know what was about to happen so it was hard to put the book down. I agreed 100% with the message the author was trying to get across, so I would definitely reread this book.

life is all about choices. This book is all about choices and addiction. This book was very dark, sometimes sinister towards the end. I loved Kevin Brook's writing style. It left me breathless at times. Candy tells the story of Joe who befriends a using teen. This teen wants to get clean, and beats up her pimp. She and Joe are suddenly on the run. I believe this would be a good book to have on your shelf, if you were a teen or a teacher. This would also be a good tool for parents to teach awareness and a good tool for teaching choices and about addiction.

I started reading the book candy because i saw another person reading it as well. I thought I'd give it a try. I flipped the pages of this book gently at first, and then i realized i was rushing through the pages really. The words are intense, the paragraphs to die for, and the chapters... you need to read more of. Personally i cant relate to these characters. But i can say i feel for them. i mean i feel for his compassion towards her. And i believe he can help her get over the messed up life she has lived for years. There's a lot of things you can say about this book but one very important simile that you will understand once reading is... I WAS HOOKED, HOOKED LIKE CANDY WAS ON DRUGS.

The book has some high points of thrills and showed what love will actually make you do. The book however, wasn't written too well for my liking. The whole pimp/hoe scene takes you on an adventure that you see coming so I didn't find it intresting. The love in the story, however made the book worh reading. the hardship with the drugs also caught my intrest.

I thought Candy was a compelling book. It takes you into the dark world of prostitution, drugs, and addiction. All of it gets seen through the eyes of Joe the main character. He has to watch Candy live this terrible life. I think the author does a good job of bringing this world to life. We get to witness all the terrible things about the underworld almost through our own eyes. The author shows that anyone can get sucked into this world. Candy came from a good stable home. The book also shows how strong addiction can be. Weather its to drugs or something else entirely.I would recommend this book as well as others by Kevin Brooks.

I thought this book would be boring. I remember picking it up and never reading. Eventually I returned it to the library and now I've checked it out once again. Let me tell you I don't regret it. It's not just another love story. The conflict was great and kept me at the edge of my seat reading. I read this in one sitting. It's good seeing what a boy thinks in a time like this. Books are usually written in girls points of views but with this one you actually get to see what's going on in a boys mind. I think you should read it. I recommend it.

If I could, I would rate this book's realism 1 million out of 5 stars. In my opinion, this book seems to relate to the world now and the dangers of it. It was such a great book to read. The suspense, you just can't wait for the next move and the next word a character will do or say. It seemed so real, especially how the guy risked everything for the girl he \"loved.\" I am not a believer of love at first sight but he was very convincing. After I bought the book, I was told it was supposed to be for guys, I honestly didn't know that but after I read it, I couldn't care less. I recommend it to anyone who is into all these intense stories. :]

I read all 364 pages of this book in three days. That's how good it is. It's a boy meets girl situation that's just really exciting. All the things Joe, the protagonist, and Candy, Joe's love interest, went through together! If you're looking for a book that you can simply enjoy for what it is, then this is a great one. Based on my taste, Candy is one of the best books I've ever read. It was easy to get into and I loved the story line. It's one of those books you just want to pick up and read all over again. Because it's genuinely good.

I read this book Candy because it is very interesting to me. I really liked it because I am the kind of person who likes books that deal with abuse. Candy is the main character. She is addicted to heroin and Joey tries to help her get unaddicted to heroin. My opinion is that this book is the best book I read in my life. The book Candy is telling how hard it is to get unaddicted to herion. Candy battles through a hard time to get to be drug free. I think if you're struggling with addictions you should read this. It just might save your life someday.

Ok this was a great! I would so like reread it 2+ more times. Liked the beginning like i thought it was AWESOME! The middle got a bit weaker but still high. If the summary on the back doesn't get you in than you probably shouldn't read this book. If you are into the whole dark, violence, drugs stuff (mind you that it isn't like ultra dark but just enough to make you go wow.) The ending now. I thought it was okay but it does leave a lot of room for imagination which I guess is good for the readers but some readers (J.K Rowling readers (I am one) want to know all the details) so it all depends on what kind of person you are. Still good! Love it maybe more of a 4.7 book Iunno just reivewing it is making me like it even more.

Candy, by Kevin Brooks, was a very well written book. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but the plot was amazing. I loved the book from the start, but I'm rather disappointed in the end. For all that Joe did for Candy... and now it's like, she's disappeared from him. But, all in all, a great book that you should read.

Candy at fisrt is a litttle slow, but when you get into the book you never want to put it down. I remember being at school and reading was over but I had to keep reading. Also when you get to the good parts, your heart starts pounding, and the characters come alive.

I loved this book dearly. Joe was an average guy, who would have thought he'd meet someone like candy? I loved how he did everything he could to try to help her to get better. Candy needed somebody like joe. and joe really needed Candy too. You will never want to put this book down.

This book has been on my list of 'Books to Read' forever and I wasn't disappointed. At first, it was kind of slow and Joe did think a lot but that was one of the things I liked about him. It gave me a very honest inside look and I found him to be someone I can relate to, which, at times, can be better than the action. Near the end, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, clutching the book, gasping 'Oh no!' over and over. The ending was a little disappointing only because Joe went through so much for Candy and he was willing to do more, yet he ended up without her.

i thought it was ok. it was a really slow read and the main character spends a little too much time obsessing over a girl he barely knows. it definitley wasnt my favorite.
