I have a very large 7 month Golden Doodle with a lot of energy. She has been trying to break the lead since the day I put it in several months ago. She hasn't even put a scratch on the lead wiring. We have woodchucks, wild turkeys, deer and assorted other wild things. She has tried to pull the lead apart or just plain break it by jumping away from it.She has given up and accepted the lead.Great product!

I would never recommend this product to anyone who has a dog that shows any kind of activity level. It took my dog less than a month to simply pull the nut completely free of its housing in the pulley. I simply refuse to accept that I should be the one responsible for fixing a glaring oversite in the design of this product. Don't get me wrong, I am not lazy. I have built my own hoophouses for our chickens, My own four ton capacity grain bin, I am remodeling our house myself. I am very much a do it yourselfer. The point is you should not have to "customize" a product marketed for one specific purpose: To keep your dog contained in their area. Would you buy a brand new car if the salesman told you. Well...I know its never been used...but you might want to buy some new brakes for it, they might give out in a week or so? Fortunately Home Depot is giving me a full refund on the product even though its used and "damaged". I will be contacting the company about this as well. So five stars as usual to Home Depot but I would give no stars to this product if it were a rating. And Ill be purchasing their supplies to build my own. I know it will be more expensive to do this...but I will not let a company make money off such a shoddy product. One of their staff even suggested how I could modify it to work...but I already stated why I will not be doing that.

I looked at the reviews prior to purchasing the kit.Easy to assemble. I purchased an extra an all steel pulley however still put the pulley that came with the kit as a backup if ever needed. Very satisfied. I thought it quite strange but my dogs actually like this and I don't worry about them jumping or climbing a 6' fence. I only use this when I'm not outside watching them. Great thing about this is you can add hardware to change position of it from one point to another to keep your lawn in shape. I'm getting another that I will put up that lets them get close to each other but not tangled up. Don't put this where your dog get can get tangled around objects or jump over anything and make sure to use a harness not just a collar. By the way how would you feel if someone was tugging on your neck. Use a Harness. Also you can get a clip to hook to your car seat belt and the harness for safety. I just unclip it when i go in a store so they can get comfortable. Good luckJohn

This run has worked purect for me and my dog. As with others I have never had to do anything special to keep he nuts tightened, I just use my socket to snug it up. The only reason I gave it four stars is not really even a failure of the kit itself. My dog leaves enough slack in the lead, that he just runs in circles and finally wears it out that it breaks from being worn so thin. in that case I I have a repair kit to fix it until the lead gets to short and then I buy a new length of lead wire and start over again. it is a good thing he does not go out the yard. but you never know, so with this kit I feel safe he is safe.

This is my second review of this product. I gave it 3 stars last time and that review did not make it to the website. Maybe this on will since it says five stars. This actually is a good product and very easy to install and maintain. The only problem I have had with it, and it is a safety issue, is that the acorn nut that attaches the ring to the pulley continued to fall off. Luckily my dog circled the bush he chose to mark and the cable he was trailing got hung up before he could get out into the street. Since I had installed it I figured HD would not take it back (and I actually need it) so I bought some thread lock compound and re-attached the ring. No problems since. Add 5 dollars to the cost of this when you buy it and seal those threads. And yes, I actually would recommend this product as long as you take this precaution first. Now we will wait and see if this review actually gets posted.

This System was easy to install but the ring that connects the dog to the run cable via a pully type wheel fell off the first time we used it. There is no type of lock washer or any other means to prevent the ring from coming off the wheel, just a standard nut that can not be tightened very easily and no matter how tight I got it, it fell right back off with the twisting from him running around. Since I have already set the post and ran the cable taking it back would not prove prudent so I had to purchase "Lock Tight" for the threads and reattach it again. Maybe it will stay this time. Again, Easy to install and very happy until my dog went running by my front window training the 10 foot cable behind him. Luckily it hung on a bush before he made it to the road and possible injury. Do not use this product until you address this issue.

I am writing this review to let people know that this is a great product i have almost a 100 pound blue nose pit who is VERY STRONG and has broke out of everything we have put him on or in very determined. I have had this pulley for almost two years now and i have had NO problems with it. I am purchasing a new one today only because its wear and tear of being used and sun fading some cable damage but of course like i said its almost been two years. Since ive have him on this system it works for me i dont worry about him chewing threw the cable or escaping:)

i had the same experience as another reviewer, the ring that connects to the pulley came off within a week. buy an all-steel pulley if you don't want to find your dog 2 blocks down the road playing in traffic. also, i would get some locking compound for nuts and bolts, theres no compound included. basically anything that has a nut and bolt is going to fall off of this thing in a hurry.

The product was a great price and installation is easy. It works very good. I adjusted the length after install and it is easy to use. My only problem is within a few weeks rust started on the pulley and related metal hardware. I applied WD40 yet I still see rust.. We have a sheltie so the run is perfect yet with a bigger dog that is more active quality might be an issue.
