This product is awful. The instructions are very poorly written and do not make sense. For example, in the surface mount installation instructions, it never identifies the "lamp housing" in any of the drawings, nor does it tell you that you must first remove the lamp housing from the surface can.The written instructions also say there is one on/off switch included. The installation drawings show two switches, and there are indeed two in the package. Sounds like these instructions were never checked for accuracy. The on/off switches themselves are the wrong kind and will not work. There is no way that the included power cord can be routed through that switch - the power cord wires are just too big. I tried forcing the wires into the switch by using the end of a srewdiver as a poker to stuff the wires into the channels in the switch. Even then, the wires are so thick that the switch cover will not fit back on the switch. Trying to compress the wires by screwing down the cover only caused the cheap plastic screw posts to break off!

These do look great once installed and provide good lighting! However I also thought I had a problem with the dimmer switch since everything wouldn't turn on again! I checked Home Depot (response to another reviewer) and they do have a dimmer replacement kit for about 19 bucks. The dimmer kit comes with the outlet as well. Luckily before re-running the dimmer switch I decided to test out the new outlet and sure enough my original outlet had burnt out! Replacing it fixed my problem without rerunning anything & I know have an extra dimmer switch just in case. The other issues I have with these lights is that they burn out every so often (I seem to have to replace a bulb every 8 months) and they're about $4-5 each. Also, they do get really hot when on for a while so I'd be careful what I place underneath them.Overall, for the price I would recommend this product but with caution.

look nice and great light but definitely not for continuous use. The bulbs did not last but a few months before they all burned out, then they were very expensive to replace. Will be returning for a different type

The plastic casing is very cheap and brittle. The instructions were incomplete and inaccurate. Spend the extra few bucks and get a better brand.

I've had this product with the dimmer switch for 6 years; the dimmer switch didn't last long. How can I obtain a replacement dimmer switch?

lights get hot. the inside cabinet shelf get warm. So I don't keep them on very long. The installation take a little time to conceal the cords and install the on/off switch.

Installation was tedious at best and hiding the cords was a challenge. We like the light under the counters but they do put off a lot of heat and will melt chocolate in the cabinet above. Be careful! Replacing the bulbs will continually set you back some bucks. Just the bulbs to replace all in a set may cost you nearly the price of a replacement light fixture. Just unnecessary gouging, in my opinion. Now the touch dimmer switch has stopped working making it necessary to unplug the entire set just to turn them off. Guess it may cost as much as a new set to fix this??? Not sure. There must be more cost effective products out there.

Why it says that hooking this item up in line can not be done since the lights when pluged into a wall or three on the end of an extention cord is exactly the same as hooking them up in line. Lame. very easy install ...

Installation could not be easier than this if mounting under cabinets(no clue how the other poster had an issue with 3 screws). Just plug them into an outlet. I ended up making the outlet dim-able by a switch and can control the light levels easily! Bulbs can be easily replaced and the additional lights can be easily added in series. The only drawback for me was because of the amount I used, I was required to use multiple extension cords in series. The only issue with this is you must find a convenient way to hide the (in my case) 3 outlet end of the extension cord which can be bulky.

Not sure why the previous reviewer found this product hard to install it couldn't be easier.... mount and plug in... tada! Quality is a B+ easy installation. My only complaint (which is why I will be returning them) is that the glass is not frosted.... I didn't realize but for a higher cabinet the light is harsh and blinding. If you will use these low, recessed or with trim blocking the light from the view point then you will be fine.
