re: paultherepairguy and anyone else interestedThere are a couple things you can do to get a whole lot more life out of any hot water heater.1. The anode rod. As time goes on, the sacrificial anode rod corrodes and is eventually used up. Once it's gone, the tank and heating elements will start corroding and quickly fail. So at least annually, pull out the anode rode and see how it's doing, and replace it if necessary. Most Home Depots carry replacement anode rods.2. Monthly or so, drain some water out of the bottom of the tank until it runs clean. If you want to be even more of a fanatic about it, replace the dip tube with one that's curved at the bottom; the curve at the bottom will stir up any sediment so it will more easily come out when you're draining it monthly. If you do these two things, you can easily double the life of any HW heater.

It's been about a month, and my electric bill has already gone down. Easy to adjust dual thermostat. I cut 2 flaps in the insulation blanket (sold separately) to adjust when needed.

Installed this myself this morning, fist time with a water heater.. no problems. Quiet, could barely tell it was heating. Took a long shower within the hour and performed excellent with plenty of hot water to spare. I would recommend this WH for the price. For a two bathroom home and a 40 gallon tank my wife and I are pleased.

Installed, worked great for 2 days, 3rd morning no hot water. Either thermostat or elements are bad. I either have to drain and remove them myself and return to home depot for new ones, or wait until GE schedules a tech to look at it. My neighbor bought the EXACT same unit and it would not heat water. His elements were bad. He replaced them himself, but Im a single woman and can not do myself. Lets see how long I can wait for GEs tech to show up....

I shopped Home Depot and Lowes and this unit won out by far on both price and quality. It took about two hours to install only because it was taller than the unit replaced so we had to redo the pipes from the wall to the unit by hand. It works great and is efficient. After my 10% military discount, I paid $188.74 out the door...can't beat that deal!!!

Have to agree with some of the previous reviews. Good value for the money. I have 5 rental units with electric water heaters and it seems to be cheaper to replace them at $208.00 for the GE unit than to hire a plumber or electrician to repair them. The Shark bite connectors are a novice's dream!! Something VERY helpful; Home Depot, I am told, has a plumber working at each store. I spoke to the one at the store I got to and to some advice from; made the whole experience easier!

Product only last for 3 years, parts are very expensive and hard to find, also, service cost are too high. Don't waste your money.

It was time to replace my old tank. i read reviews on other tanks and decided to go with this one. So far so good. I also used shark bites to make the connections, they work great also saved a lot of time.Had hot water in about an hour. I bought the wrong connections and had to take them back, my fault! lesson learned measure the distance between the tank and the supply lines.

Just bought this on Wednesday and installed it tonight. Box was pristine, no dents or anything. Went smooth, turned on the power and it heated the water up. Checked all the fittings - bone dryI went back a few hours later and there was water everywhere, coming from the top element cover :-(. I thought it might be a lose element, but that's dry too. I can only guess it's a crack in the tank somewhere (bad weld?). I would have thought they tested this before selling it to us....Back to HD tomorrow... bummer

I bought it on line and picked it up the same day. It was waiting for me at the customer service desk. I used a Sharkbite fitting for the expansion line outlet which made the install very easy. There was more room for the electrical connections than on the old water heater. Since it is now only 2 weeks old, time will tell if everything is still great but so far, it is a good product with an easy install.

Water is very hot even set at a lower temp of 125. Also does not take long to heat back up. Haven't run out of hot water yet. It looks nice & clean too for a water heater.

The only problem I had after the Water Heater was installed is that the Nipple that was installed at the Factory was not TIGHT. Very disappointed had to cut HOT Side and put a Coupling in line and resolder. Check all your connections first.

Bought this product about 2 years ago. Had to re-route lines as I decided to install in a different location than old unit. Figured I might as well replace wiring and all. Read where some folks put in a cut off switch when the breaker is not in sight of unit...so I put that in as well. I live alone so I can flip the switch on in the morning while the coffe is brewing, let the dog out, have my coffee and it's heated the whole tank. Flip the switch off...I can use that tank for about 3 days in the summer, 2 in the winter. This includes bathing every day, doing hand washing dishes, giving the dog a bath and washing clothes. My electric bill is miniscule compared to before. No problems with the unit..glad I got it. Looking to get another one for another house. Bought this straight out of the store. I am almost 60 and female. You gotta do what you gotta do when you live alone. This heater was a good deal for me.
