Have to agree with some of the previous reviews. Good value for the money. I have 5 rental units with electric water heaters and it seems to be cheaper to replace them at $208.00 for the GE unit than to hire a plumber or electrician to repair them. The Shark bite connectors are a novice's dream!! Something VERY helpful; Home Depot, I am told, has a plumber working at each store. I spoke to the one at the store I got to and to some advice from; made the whole experience easier!

Product only last for 3 years, parts are very expensive and hard to find, also, service cost are too high. Don't waste your money.

Just bought this on Wednesday and installed it tonight. Box was pristine, no dents or anything. Went smooth, turned on the power and it heated the water up. Checked all the fittings - bone dryI went back a few hours later and there was water everywhere, coming from the top element cover :-(. I thought it might be a lose element, but that's dry too. I can only guess it's a crack in the tank somewhere (bad weld?). I would have thought they tested this before selling it to us....Back to HD tomorrow... bummer

I bought this one for my elderly parents. I bought this one because we have the same water heater, except for gas. We haven't had any problems with ours the past 2 years. And my father, who is 73, easily installed it himself. Very happy with this purchase!

It was time to replace my old tank. i read reviews on other tanks and decided to go with this one. So far so good. I also used shark bites to make the connections, they work great also saved a lot of time.Had hot water in about an hour. I bought the wrong connections and had to take them back, my fault! lesson learned measure the distance between the tank and the supply lines.

Simple features for optimum use. Ease of installation and short heating time. Ease of ordering online for in store pick up. It was at the counter, ready to go even though I was a day late picking it up.

I bought it on line and picked it up the same day. It was waiting for me at the customer service desk. I used a Sharkbite fitting for the expansion line outlet which made the install very easy. There was more room for the electrical connections than on the old water heater. Since it is now only 2 weeks old, time will tell if everything is still great but so far, it is a good product with an easy install.

Water is very hot even set at a lower temp of 125. Also does not take long to heat back up. Haven't run out of hot water yet. It looks nice & clean too for a water heater.

The only problem I had after the Water Heater was installed is that the Nipple that was installed at the Factory was not TIGHT. Very disappointed had to cut HOT Side and put a Coupling in line and resolder. Check all your connections first.

Bought this product about 2 years ago. Had to re-route lines as I decided to install in a different location than old unit. Figured I might as well replace wiring and all. Read where some folks put in a cut off switch when the breaker is not in sight of unit...so I put that in as well. I live alone so I can flip the switch on in the morning while the coffe is brewing, let the dog out, have my coffee and it's heated the whole tank. Flip the switch off...I can use that tank for about 3 days in the summer, 2 in the winter. This includes bathing every day, doing hand washing dishes, giving the dog a bath and washing clothes. My electric bill is miniscule compared to before. No problems with the unit..glad I got it. Looking to get another one for another house. Bought this straight out of the store. I am almost 60 and female. You gotta do what you gotta do when you live alone. This heater was a good deal for me.

Regardless of some negative reviews I decided to buy this Water heater. I was not wrong. This water heater is perfect, extremely easy to install considering I was replacing a 20 gal tank with this 40 gal tank. there were only minor changes which we made. Everything went together easily, the actual work taking no more than 30 minutes. We now have almost unending hot water. We can all 4 take a shower and still have hot water to spare. The smaller tank was full of sludge and was only good for about 1 minute of slightly warm water. I am really satisfied with this purchase. I have never bought a bad GE product.

I just purchased this product after reading all the reviews, and after looking at other products in different stores. So far I am very happy with it. No issues. I completed the installation by myself in 30 mins. The size and weight was easy to manage. The connections were simple. My water was hot after an hour. Make sure you follow all the directions. I am praying that it continues to work for many years to come. Don't forget to put a pan under the product. For $215.00, Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I recently purchased 130 year old Victorian home. The gas hot water heater went out and we wanted to convert it to electric. We purchased this hot water heater and brought it home. I carried it to the basement myself and started the install which took me about 45 minutes.30 minutes after the installation I was taking a nice very hot shower.Great product and a great price. Thanks

I purchased the quick connect hoses with it it took longer to remove and drain the old one then to install this one. Makes hot water which is a plus since it is suppose to. Good deal for price on a 40 gallon tank

I bought this water heater in January 2009 and I have to replace unit January 2012 due to leak and corrosion in bottom panel. Warranty people were very helpful. Considering price, economy and warranty I will recommend this product with reservations.

Bought one of these and installed it easily with no problems at all, using the SharkBite connectors you can buy in Home Depot, too. As to the few negative reviews in here, I suspect that professional plumbers come in here and write bad reviews of these products in an attempt to scare home owners away from doing it themselves, but, don't worry, this is an excellent water heater and it's very easy for a do-it-yourselfer to install!

the installation of the unit was simple and only took 25 to 30 minuts. The hot water takes 3 to 4 minutes to get to the far end of the house, but if you need to install the unit yourself I definitely recomend this unit.

Just as easy to install as any Hot Water Tank. Bought it as a replacement, needed a slender 40 gal tank for condo w/two bathrms. Not excited about the fact that it takes at least 45 minutes to heat water... W/2 heating elements, thats a long time, good thing I live in the South. One concern, a lot of POPPING noise when first heating unit up...due to expansion (read your manual BEFORE INSTALLATION).TIME will tell if this was really worth saving a few $$$'s on a less expensive unit @ $208.00.CF, Boynton Beach, FL

I was very pleased with the quality of the GE 40 Gallon water heater. i believe a cave woman could easily install if they followed all the safety guidelines.Had hot water in 40 minutes and incoming water was ice cold.
